If you see pharmacist today, tell them HAPPY WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY!

I’m often curious about how “days” like this get set up/celebrated. This one is “hosted” by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (known as FIP) and is on this date to mark their founding in 1912.

This year, FIP chose “empowering pharmacists for healthier futures” as the theme for today. Honestly, it’s a great theme for pharmacy across the US this year and a great theme for us at Day’s Pharmacy. We (the team) chose “we’re all about your health” as our company motto in 2020 and have continued to push ourselves and our profession so that we can be part of your health care team, not just the place you access prescription medications (we do that well of course!).

Thank you for letting us help you live healthier lives! If you’re not a Day’s Pharmacy patient and aren’t used to thinking about pharmacists as part of your care team, maybe today is the day to check out what we and so many others would love to do for and with you.

Update #3 with “we’re sorry we’ve been busy but want to tell everyone about what’s going on”

This fall we started an AMAZING collab with Xavier University where we have extended our delivery service to students who live on and around campus!

This idea was initially proposed by XU students during a marketing class we were invited to participate in and we were so struck by the need that we had to figure out how to help. Fast forward a couple years and here we are! We’ve already been able to help dozens of students (and families) who are hundreds and hundreds of miles from home get access to medications.

Update #2 in our “return to telling stories”

We’ve been busy saving patients (many of them new to our pharmacies and the care we provide) hundreds and hundreds of dollars on two recently generic medications that many insurance companies don’t cover/cover well.

Huge shoutout to The Christ Hospital Health Network for recognizing the value of locally owned direct pay pharmacies in extending care for complex patients!

We estimate that we’ve saved patients over $100,000 this summer on just these two medications! In a world full of inflation, we love DEfating patients medication costs.

This article estimates that more than 10% of people can save money using a direct pay pharmacy. Since this research was published, direct pay prices have generally fallen and many insurance plans have shifted more costs to patients. (FWIW, our prices are often better than Mark Cuban’s)

This economic evaluation estimates the out-of-pocket cost savings patients could achieve if generic drugs were purchased directly from the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company rather than using their health insurance.
