A HUGE thank you to Civic Garden Center for coming out and helping our residents plant and create our new vegetable garden! Our residents also had the opportunity to learn how to properly care for the garden, maintain the crops, and watch what they planted grow. 🌱

This project is about more than growing vegetables—it’s about self-care, responsibility, teamwork, patience, and creating something positive together.

We can’t wait to see our garden continue to grow! 🥬🌽🥦

Wanda Way Homes residents will be heading downtown to experience BLINK Cincinnati 2026 as part of our evening group. This outing is about self-care, recovery, connection, and creating positive experiences together.

📅 Thursday, October 8th
⏰ Departing at 6:30 PM

You do not have to be in evening group to attend. All Wanda Way Homes residents are welcome to come out, enjoy the lights, explore the city, and make some good memories together.
Recovery is also about learning how to enjoy life again, experience new things, and build healthy connections. 💕

🎉 Celebrating 6 Months Clean — Congratulations, Peter! 🎉

Tonight at Wanda Way Homes, we’re celebrating something BIG. 💗
Peter has officially reached SIX MONTHS CLEAN!

What makes this milestone even more powerful is that this is the first time in Peter’s life that he has reached six months clean. That deserves to be recognized, heard, respected, and felt.

Recovery is about more than counting days. It’s about choosing yourself again and again. It’s about getting back up, learning a new way of living, accepting support, and continuing forward even when the journey gets difficult.

🚨 New Substance Abuse Counselor Alert 🚨

Welcome Ieshia Hayes, CDCA, to Wanda Way Homes!

Wanda Way Homes is excited to introduce Ieshia Hayes, CDCA, as a Substance Use Counselor serving our clients and supporting them throughout their recovery journey.

Ieshia brings two years of professional experience in substance abuse counseling, with experience working in both mid-sized and large recovery and behavioral health organizations throughout Cincinnati. Her background includes IOP group facilitation, individual substance use counseling, case management, community outreach, treatment referrals, and recovery housing placement. She has also worked in high-volume environments where she has helped counsel and case manage 60+ clients at one time.

Her approach focuses on helping individuals better understand their substance-use patterns, identify triggers, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relapse-prevention strategies, and build greater accountability in recovery. She also brings valuable experience connecting individuals to community resources and supports that promote stability and long-term sustainability.

📚 Education & Professional Growth
Ieshia is currently attending Cincinnati State, where she is pursuing her associate degree in Human Services. After graduation, she plans to continue her education at the University of Cincinnati, with the goal of furthering her studies in substance abuse counseling and ultimately advancing to the LCDC III credential.

At Wanda Way Homes, we believe strong recovery housing includes more than providing a place to live—it means surrounding our residents with professionals who can support their recovery, stability, and next steps.

🌱 Growing Through Recovery at Wanda Way Homes!

Tomorrow, Wanda Way Homes is excited to partner with Civic Garden Center for our Garden & Wellness Project!

From 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, our residents will get outside, learn about gardening, and work together to begin creating our very own garden at Wanda Way Homes.

For people in recovery, wellness is about more than staying substance-free—it’s also about learning healthy ways to manage stress, stay present, build routines, connect with others, and care for something meaningful. Our garden will give residents another positive space to practice those skills.

Morning IOP participants: This will serve as your group project activity. All other Wanda Way Homes residents are encouraged to come outside, participate, learn, and help us grow!

A special thank you to Civic Garden Center for partnering with us and helping bring this project to life.

Seeing Renika featured in the Cincinnati Business Courier newspaper is a special moment—not only because of the recognition, but because it represents years of commitment to creating opportunities, building programs, and helping people in our community move forward.

Wanda Way Homes serves as the housing campus for Generation Now’s Clear Path Recovery program, providing individuals in recovery with more than a place to live. Our work focuses on creating stability, connecting residents to treatment and recovery supports, employment and workforce resources, education, financial literacy, and the tools needed to rebuild their lives.

This work has been made possible through community investment and partnerships, including support from United Way, the City of Cincinnati, and Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Renika’s continued fundraising and advocacy have helped bring resources into the program so that Wanda Way Homes can continue providing safe, supportive housing for individuals working toward long-term recovery and independence.

🎓 FINANCIAL LITERACY GRADUATION AT WANDA WAY HOMES! 🎓

Wanda Way Homes would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to First Commonwealth Bank for investing in our residents through a six-week Financial Literacy Program!

Yesterday, our residents officially graduated and received their certificates! A few graduates were unable to attend because of work obligations—which is a win in itself—but we are incredibly proud of EVERYONE who committed to this program, showed up, learned, and grew over these past six weeks.

Our Housing Director, Renika J. Smiley, has been able to witness firsthand how the lessons from this program are showing up in residents’ everyday lives.

> “I watched one of our residents open their very first bank account at First Commonwealth Bank. I’ve watched residents become more conscious about budgeting their money and understand what it takes to become financially stable and independent. Some have realized that reaching their financial goals may mean taking on a second job. I’ve also watched residents take what they learned during fraud prevention and apply it to situations happening in their own lives.

> That is what financial literacy is about. You may not walk away remembering every single lesson, but if you walk away understanding your money better, changing a financial habit, opening a bank account, creating a budget, protecting yourself from fraud, or making a better decision for your future—you learned something. I have watched our residents learn and grow throughout this program, and I am so proud of them.”

At Wanda Way Homes, we understand that recovery is about more than remaining substance-free. Recovery is also about rebuilding a sustainable life.

Financial literacy can be an important part of that journey. Learning how to budget, manage income, establish banking relationships, protect yourself financially, maintain employment, and plan for the future can help residents build the stability and independence needed as they move forward in recovery.

This is why partnerships matter.

We are incredibly grateful to announce that Wanda Way Homes, a program of Empower GENNOW Network (Generation NOW), has received $106,071.17 in FY2027 funding through the City of Cincinnati Human Services Fund! 🎉

This continued and expanded investment means so much to our organization and, most importantly, to the individuals we serve.

At Wanda Way Homes, our mission is rooted in three simple but powerful words: Healing. Housing. Hope. Every day, we work to provide safe and supportive recovery housing while helping individuals rebuild their lives, strengthen their stability, and move toward independence.

We are deeply grateful to the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati City Council, and United Way for continuing to believe in this work and investing in housing services that strengthen our community.
