Mom to mom⌠can we talk about this? đ
Why is it sometimes so hard to genuinely celebrate another mom?
Why can our first reaction be a little cringe when we see another mom doing really wellâespecially when sheâs doing well in an area that weâve been working so hard at ourselves?
Why do we sometimes feel threatened by another womanâs success instead of inspired by it?
Iâll tell you why.
Because we have a sinful nature.
When sin entered the world, jealousy, envy, comparison, pride, and selfishness came right along with it. And if we arenât careful, that little green-eyed monster can creep in before we even realize whatâs happening.
But as women who follow Christ, we are called to slay that thing. đđź
Another momâs success does not take anything away from you.
Her beautiful family doesnât make yours less beautiful.
Her thriving business doesnât mean yours canât thrive.
Her answered prayer doesnât mean God has forgotten yours.
Her accomplishment doesnât diminish yours.
We are not in competition with one another.
Instead of looking at another mom as a threat, what if we chose to see her as a sister?
Cheer for her.
Encourage her.
Celebrate her.
Tell her youâre proud of her.
Share her work.
Speak life over her.
Because isnât that what we would want someone to do for us?
Matthew 7:12 says, âSo whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them.â
So when you see another mom doing wellâespecially in an area where youâve been strugglingâfight the urge to compare.
Catch the jealousy.
Lay it down.
And choose love instead.
Because there is room for all of us to flourish. đ¸
Mom to mom: Iâm not threatened by you. Iâm cheering you on. And I hope youâll do the same for me. đ
