As a hairstylist who’s experienced burnout, I know how heavy this work can feel.
Behind the chair, it’s so much more than hair.
We hold conversations, carry emotions, celebrate milestones, comfort heartbreak, and listen to life stories day after day. We become the safe space… the confidant… the unofficial therapist.
And while we pour so much into others, it’s easy to forget that we need support too.
The professional beauty industry can be beautiful—but it can also be physically demanding, emotionally draining, and nonstop. Long days, packed schedules, constant giving, and little time to fully reset can leave our nervous systems running on empty.
National Hairstylist Mental Health Awareness Day is an important reminder that it’s okay to have off days. It’s okay to need rest. It’s okay to create healthier boundaries and prioritize your own wellness too 🤍
