☀️ September is National Preparedness Month! 🚨

Being prepared means knowing how to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your pets before an emergency happens. This month, we’re highlighting the importance of being ready for hazards like extreme heat. 🌡️

Extreme heat can be dangerous, especially for older adults, young children, people with certain health conditions, and pets. Take steps to stay safe:

💧 Drink plenty of fluids
🌳 Find shade and take breaks from the heat
🏠 Know where you can go to stay cool
🐾 Make sure pets have plenty of water and shade
🚗 Never leave children, adults, or pets in a parked vehicle
❤️ Check on family members, neighbors, and those who may need extra support

Preparedness starts with small steps today that can make a big difference tomorrow. Stay informed, stay safe, and stay prepared!

📍 Clay County Health Department is proud to support our community in building a healthier, safer, and more prepared Clay County.

☀️ SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH! 🚨

Preparedness starts with knowing what to do before an emergency happens. This month, we’re encouraging everyone to take simple steps to protect yourself, your family, and your community.

🌡️ Know the signs of heat-related illness:
💛 Heat Cramps – Muscle pains or spasms
🧡 Heat Exhaustion – Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and more
❤️ Heat Stroke – A life-threatening emergency requiring immediate medical attention

Even as summer begins to wind down, extreme heat can still be dangerous. Knowing the warning signs and how to respond can make a difference when every minute matters.

📋 Make a plan. Build a kit. Stay informed. Know the risks.
Preparedness isn't just for major disasters it’s about being ready for the emergencies that can happen in our everyday lives.

🏠 Preparedness Starts at Home!

📚❤️ Building Little Readers, One Book at a Time!

We had a very special visitor at the Clay County Health Department today!

Alice Bachand, representing the Nathan Edson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), stopped by to donate 100 children’s books to CCHD! 📖

These books will be given to children who visit our clinic, helping us encourage early literacy and giving our littlest visitors something special to take home and enjoy.

At CCHD, we know that healthy children are about more than vaccines, checkups, and screenings. Reading with young children helps build language skills, strengthens family connections, encourages learning, and can help create a lifelong love of books. ❤️

We are incredibly grateful to Alice and the Nathan Edson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for investing in Clay County children and families.

100 books = 100 opportunities to put a book in a child's hands 📚✨

Thank you for helping us encourage healthy kids AND growing readers!
