One of the hardest things for many parents to watch is a child who genuinely wants friends but keeps getting hurt.

Not because they don't care.

Not because they aren't trying.

But because wanting connection and finding meaningful connection aren't always the same thing.

I wrote a new article about friendship, belonging, and what parents can do when these patterns keep repeating.

🔗 Read here:

Watching your child struggle with friendships can be heartbreaking. Learn why social interest isn't always the same as belonging and how parents can support teens and young adults through friendship challenges.

Summer doesn't have to mean constant reminders.

Many teens and young adults do better when expectations are visible instead of repeated throughout the day.

The Summer Responsibility & Activity Planner was created to help families organize responsibilities, activities, appointments, and routines in a way that feels realistic and flexible.

Inside you'll find simple planning pages designed to help reduce overwhelm while encouraging independence one step at a time.
☀️ Responsibilities
☀️ Activities & plans
☀️ Weekly organization
☀️ Flexible structure

I've been working on a new summer resource this week and it's almost ready.

If you're trying to balance independence, responsibilities, activities, and realistic expectations this summer, this one was created with you in mind.

The Summer Responsibility & Activity Planner will be available tomorrow. Here's a quick preview of what's inside.

Sometimes the issue isn't whether someone wants to help.
The challenge may be remembering, getting started, or keeping track of multiple responsibilities throughout the day.

Written expectations, visual schedules, and simple checklists can help reduce the need for repeated reminders while creating more independence over time.

👍 Chores & responsibilities
❤️ Screen time & devices

There's no right answer here—just curious what families are experiencing this summer.

Vote in the comments and feel free to add your own answer if it's something else.

Every family reaches that point where it feels like the same reminder is happening over and over again.

Often, the issue isn't laziness or unwillingness. It may be difficulty remembering, getting started, shifting attention, or managing multiple tasks.

Reducing the number of verbal reminders can sometimes reduce conflict for everyone.

What's one responsibility that seems to trigger the most frustration in your household?

This week we've been talking about summer schedules, structure, and preparing for the changes that come with a new season.

If you're parenting a neurodivergent teen or young adult, you know that transitions don't always happen smoothly—and that's okay.

You don't need a perfect plan.

You don't need all the answers.

Sometimes the next right step is enough.

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend.
