Real talk…It sounds simple, but this was one of the hardest things for me to do 10 years ago...

EAT BREAKFAST.

Ladies, I’ll be the first to admit that I skipped breakfast for years, thinking it was bettering my life.

Little did I know that it was digging my symptoms hole deeper and deeper.

I either didn’t have time, couldn’t make the time, wasn’t hungry, couldn’t stomach it, or didn’t feel good after eating breakfast...so I stopped eating it.

I told myself I felt fine. That I felt better, in fact. I was running on some sort of high that kept me going all day (looking back, helloooo, adrenaline, cortisol and caffeine intake). But little did I know, my body was slowly crashing and becoming even more depleted by the day.

Fast forward in time to today where breakfast is my FAVORITE meal of the day. Not only do I love breakfast foods, but I feel amazing after eating it, feel energized throughout the day, don’t crash an 8th of what I used to, and haven’t needed 2 cups of coffee each day to keep me going for years!

I’m empowered. I’m strong. I’m nourished. And I love it.

GLP-1 medications are everywhere right now for weight loss…and here to stay.😬

And while they can sometimes be a helpful tool, most women are jumping in without supporting their body first. That’s where things start to go sideways real quick...

If your foundation isn’t solid BEFORE starting a GLP-1, you’re more likely to experience:
– extreme fatigue
– muscle loss instead of fat loss
– worsening digestion (bloating, constipation, nausea)
– nutrient deficiencies
– MEGA rebound weight gain later

Here’s what actually needs to be in place FIRST:

🥩 1. A nutrient-dense, protein-forward diet
GLP-1s suppress appetite… which means many women unintentionally under-eat. Without enough protein + nutrients → your metabolism slows and muscle breaks down.

From a functional lens, here’s what’s actually needed to get your metabolism working for you:

🔥 1. Eating enough (and often enough) to signal safety. If you’re skipping meals, doing light lunches, or “being good” all day… your body adapts by slowing everything down. A thriving metabolism needs consistent fuel—especially in the first half of your day.

🍳 2. Prioritizing protein + minerals (not just calories). It’s not just how much you eat—it’s what you’re eating. Low protein + depleted minerals (think sodium, potassium, magnesium) = fatigue, cravings, poor thyroid support, and a sluggish metabolism. This is where most women are unknowingly undernourished.

💪 3. Strength training without overtraining. Muscle is what drives metabolic rate—but too much HIIT + not enough recovery = stress, not results. Lift smart, recover well, and stop chasing burnout workouts.

HATE TO SAY IT, but under eating + high intensity training = a massive stress load on the body.🫠😬

And if you’re already running on cortisol? You’re just pouring gasoline on the fire.

Here’s what’s actually happening behind the scenes:

• cortisol stays chronically elevated (hello anxiety, poor sleep, belly fat)
• thyroid function starts to downshift (slower metabolism, fatigue, hair loss)
