At the beginning of 2026, Luna set a goal for herself. She wanted to improve every aspect of her education. And she did exactly that.

From attending extra tutoring sessions, to using her lunch breaks for quiet reflection and reading practice, she showed determination, maturity, and an incredible commitment to growth every single day.

We are so proud to celebrate her as the recipient of the Jan Sutherland Award. An honor that perfectly reflects the perseverance, heart, and dedication that Mrs. Sutherland represented so well.

When her name was announced, through the tears, you could hear her say, “I earned it.”
And she absolutely did!

This plaque will be displayed in the office as a constant reminder of all the hard work and dedication that Luna and the students in past years have shown.

Congratulations, Luna! Your hard work, resilience, and belief in yourself inspire us all.

Sometimes it's best to hear what the parents have to say about the transformation and this is as good as it gets.

"Art has been vital in his transformation in a very nonverbal, but expressive way! I think the material that Ms. Pam chooses to emphasize and teach is not mainstream and not commercialized. (I love that!) Learning about artists that are not on the top of a search list is important, because while lesser known and a little different, they still highlight a beautiful and creative format. Cooper is a deeper soul in that regard, where he identifies with being a little different, seeing and applying beauty in multiple applications. Art is individually expressive and not so much about who is the best. It has afforded him another layer of confidence that he can create a unique and beautiful piece of art that is distinctively his own, representing a style that he has been taught. He finds the actual application of drawing and painting or using pastels or cutting and gluing, calming and very enjoyable and the result of all of this is a masterpiece of his own!"

If you want to see some of this amazing artwork it will be on display at the until June 6th. Be sure to stop by and check it out.

Transformation stories like Christian’s are why we do what we do.

At the beginning of the year, Christian could identify 15 uppercase letters, 4 lowercase letters, and 4 letter sounds. Fast forward to today and he is now meeting kindergarten benchmarks in spelling (14/17 words correct) and reading sentences!

His growth didn’t happen overnight. It came from hard work, determination, and showing up every single day ready to try his best. We are so proud of how much his spelling and reading skills have grown this year!

Watching his confidence blossom along with his skills has been the sweetest part of all.

This week we worked on vowel teams “ee” and “ea” and how they make the long e sound through IMSE-based reinforcement exercises.

The real success story is Jace.

Through repetition, routine, and consistent practice, Jace has shown tremendous improvement and growing confidence with these concepts. What once required extra support is now becoming more natural and automatic for him.

That’s the power of intentional instruction paired with consistency.
Small steps repeated daily lead to meaningful transformation.

We’re so proud of the hard work and progress he’s making!

Sometimes English just doesn’t play by the rules.

But activities like this do so much more than teach spelling words. They build confidence, spark curiosity, and remind students that learning can be messy and fun

Our students are using shaving cream to practice “rule breaker” red words that don’t follow typical phonics patterns or include concepts not explicitly taught yet.

Through multisensory learning, students can SEE, FEEL, and REMEMBER tricky words in a way that sticks. All while taking risks, making mistakes, and realizing they can do hard things.

Hands-on, engaging instruction helps create confident learners who feel successful, supported, and excited to learn.
