📢 Second Publication Alert this week!

I'm thrilled to share this important new manuscript in JWC highlighting a novel approach to evidence generation in wound management —leveraging a basket trial design inspired by oncology research.

Traditionally, wound care studies evaluate therapies in siloed wound types. But real-world patients are far more complex.

This publication explores how a basket trial model can evaluate a single, targeted therapy across multiple wound etiologies simultaneously.

Why this is a game-changer:
•✅ Breaks down silos between wound types (DFU, VLU, pressure injuries, etc.)
•✅ Enables more efficient, scalable clinical research
•✅ Supports precision-driven, mechanism-based therapy evaluation
•✅ Accelerates evidence generation in a resource-constrained environment

This is exactly the type of forward-thinking framework needed as our field moves toward more personalized, evidence-driven care models.

🚨JUST PUBLISHED! 🚨

I am beyond thrilled to share that our paper, "Proposed Addendum to the 2006 US Food and Drug Administration Guidance on Chronic Cutaneous Ulcers and Burn Wounds: Recommendations from the Wound Care Collaborative Community," is now published in WOUNDS.

https://www.hmpgloballearningnetwork.com/site/wounds/original-research/proposed-addendum-2006-us-food-and-drug-administration-guidance

Nearly two decades have passed since the FDA published its original guidance on chronic wound product development and the science has evolved dramatically. Our field deserved an update, and I am so proud that the Wound Care Collaborative Community (WCCC) stepped up to deliver one. This proposed addendum tackles critical gaps head-on.

This labor of love was achieved alongside an incredible team of wound care warriors:
Mitch Sanders, PhD Vickie R Driver DPM MS FACFAS Dr Marissa Carter Peggy Dotson Caroline Fife, MD Sarah Griffiths Langbord, Ph.D. Holly Korzendorfer, PT, PhD, CWS®, FACCWS Francis James Maribel Riesco, DPM, MSPT, BCMAS Alisha Oropallo MD, PhD, FSVS, FACS, FABWMS Joseph Rolley Rob Snyder, DPM, MSc, MBA, CWSP, FFPM RCPS(Glasg) Marjana Tomic-Canic Zwelithini Tunyiswa Howard Walthall Dev Verma, MD

This is what happens when passionate clinicians, scientists, industry leaders, and regulators come together with one shared mission: improving the lives of patients with chronic wounds. The WCCC is proof that collaboration drives innovation.
