☀️ Extreme Heat Advisory for East Tennessee
Summer temperatures are reaching dangerous levels across East Tennessee. Combined with high humidity, the heat can place extra stress on the body and increase the risk of heat-related illness.
At The Good Samaritan Medical Clinic, we encourage everyone to take simple steps to protect themselves and those around them.
☀️ Protect Your Health During Extreme Heat:
💧 Hydrate Early and Often
Don’t wait until you’re thirsty. Drink water consistently throughout the day to help prevent dehydration.
🏠 Seek Cooler Environments
Spend time in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible, especially during the hottest part of the afternoon.
🧢 Dress to Stay Cool
Choose lightweight, breathable, and light-colored clothing, and wear a wide-brimmed hat or sunscreen when outdoors.
🌡️ Reduce Heat Exposure
If you must be outside, pace yourself, rest often, and avoid strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat.
❤️ Check on Those Most at Risk
Older adults, infants and young children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic medical conditions are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. A quick phone call or visit can make a meaningful difference.
🚙 Look Before You Lock
Never leave a child, older adult, or pet unattended in a parked vehicle. Interior temperatures can become life-threatening within minutes.
