As Gebauer's Product Development Manager, Walid works closely with cross-functional teams to expand the company's patient comfort portfolio through new product development and customer-focused innovation. By collaborating with clinicians, customers, and colleagues across the organization, he helps identify opportunities to enhance the patient experience and bring meaningful solutions to market.

Prior to joining Gebauer in 2025, Walid spent more than a decade in the medical device industry, holding engineering and leadership roles at Lubrizol and Zimmer Biomet. His background in business and biomedical engineering helps bridge technical problem-solving with an understanding of customer and market needs.

When a child has a medical emergency, parents assume the nearest hospital can handle it. That's not always the case, and Georgia hospitals are working to change that.

A recent piece from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution highlights how hospitals across the state are pursuing pediatric readiness designations and neonatal intensive care verification, working to ensure specialized care is available closer to home. A few statistics that caught our attention:

● More than 80% of children requiring emergency care first seek treatment in community emergency departments
● High pediatric readiness can lower death rates for ill and injured children by as much as 76%, according to the National Pediatric Readiness Project
● Georgia consistently has higher rates of premature births and infant mortality than the national average - designations like these are part of a longer-term effort to close that gap
