We had athletic trainers come in and talk with our Sports Medicine classes about the profession. They also shared some of the crazy injuries and real-life scenarios they’ve experienced in the field. This helped students understand the importance of quick decision-making and proper technique in emergency situations.
Students learned how to perform an 8-man lift and log roll for backboarding. Of course, we had to make it a little fun by rotating the student over- showing that proper stability matters and that the athlete should not be able to move at all when it’s done correctly. They also practiced applying vacuum splints for fractures and dislocations.
Thank you to our guest speakers Clarissa and Bryan!
