SEPTEMBER WITH FRESH START LIVING WITH PURPOSE LLC
September is personal. It’s Su***de Awareness Month, the founder’s birthday month, and another opportunity for us to show up with PURPOSE.
This month we’re continuing to serve through life coaching, senior care, end-of-life support, and our Saturday community gatherings. We also have a few toiletry and hygiene items available if you or someone you know could use a little help, please reach out. No shame. No judgment.
And remember: you matter, your life matters, and asking for help is strength. If you’re struggling, call or text 988 for immediate crisis support.

THINGS FAMILIES SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CREMATION

Grief is already hard enough. You deserve to understand your options before making decisions.

Ask about direct cremation.
Direct cremation is generally a lower-cost option because it doesn't require a viewing or traditional funeral service. Ask for an itemized price list so you know exactly what you're paying for.

You don't have to purchase an expensive casket for direct cremation.
A traditional casket is not required. An alternative cremation container, which may be made from materials such as cardboard or fiberboard, can be used.

Ask whether witnessing is available.
Some crematories allow family members to be present for part of the cremation process. Policies and fees vary, so ask your provider what options they offer.

Cremated remains aren't simply "ashes."
After cremation, the remaining bone fragments are processed into the material families receive as cremated remains. The amount varies from person to person.

Know the rules before scattering.
Where cremated remains can be scattered depends on the location. Private property, parks, public lands, and waterways can have different requirements. Always check before scattering.

Most importantly ASK QUESTIONS.
Ask for prices in writing. Ask what is required and what is optional. Ask about less expensive alternatives. You are allowed to understand your choices before saying yes.

Some days, a fresh start looks like taking a big leap. Other days, it simply looks like getting out of bed, taking a deep breath, and choosing not to give up.

At Fresh Start Living with Purpose LLC, we understand that life can be heavy. You don’t have to have everything figured out, and you don’t have to pretend you’re okay. Sometimes you just need compassion, encouragement, accountability, and someone willing to meet you right where you are.
Your past may explain parts of your story, but it does not get to write the ending. Healing takes time. Growth can be uncomfortable. Starting over can be scary but you are still worthy of the life you are working toward.
Take it one honest step at a time. Small progress is still progress, and needing support does not make you weak. It makes you human.

What if your client is rebuilding her life after divorce and addiction? She has completed therapy, regularly attends support groups, and has worked hard to remain committed to her recovery. However, she recently lost her job and is now struggling financially. Her ex-husband wants the children to live with him full-time because he believes she can no longer provide the stability they need. She feels ashamed, overwhelmed, and afraid that everything she has rebuilt is slipping away.
