🌍 Small steps in Coal Grove make a GIANT impact in Uganda! 🇺🇬
We just received these five beautiful smiles in our inbox, and we couldn’t wait to share them with our amazing Coal Grove Pharmacy family.
In many parts of Uganda, access to education is a dream that feels out of reach. Through our sponsorship program, we are making sure these children don't just dream—they attend.
For these kids, sponsorship means:
A Quality Education: Breaking the cycle of poverty with the tools they need to succeed.
Learning About Jesus: Being spiritually nurtured in an environment where they hear the Gospel and God's truth.
Essential Support: This often covers everything from tuition and uniforms to meals and school supplies.
None of this would be possible without YOU. When you support Coal Grove Pharmacy, you are directly helping us provide a future for these children. Thank you for being a part of this mission!
❤️ PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE this post to help us spread the word! The more people who see these smiles, the more lives we can change together.
How to Get Involved:
Are you interested in participating in our missions in Uganda or the Philippines? We would love to have you!
📩 Reach out to us directly via DM or visit us at the pharmacy. We’ll be happy to share more details on how you can help sponsor a child or get involved in our upcoming projects.

COAL GROVE PHARMACY FUN FACT FRIDAY:

Week 4: Leading the Way – From 1892 to Today

Theme: Mayors & Growth

A lot has changed since Coal Grove held its first election, but the spirit of the village remains the same.

• The First Election: The first village election was held in April 1892. Back then, names like Guy Rowe, Phil Carey, and H.J. Millers were the ones leading the charge.

• Modern Leadership: We’ve seen many dedicated leaders since then, including past Mayor Gary Sherman and our current Mayor, Andy Holmes, who was sworn in just a couple of years ago.

• The "Good": Despite being a small village, we’ve maintained our own identity and local services—like our very own Coal Grove Pharmacy—for generations.

Which past mayor or local leader do you remember most for making a difference in our town? 🏛️

COAL GROVE PHARMACY FUN FACT FRIDAY:

Week 3: A Salute to Our Heroes – Captain Richard Lyon Edwards

Theme: Military & Sacrifice

This week, we want to honor a true hero from our own backyard.

• The Hero: Captain Richard Lyon Edwards, a Coal Grove native, served our country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

• The Sacrifice: Captain Edwards was a pilot who tragically lost his life in 1968 during hostile action in South Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and is forever honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

• Community Pride: We are proud to be the home of such brave men and women. Coal Grove has always stepped up when our country called.

Do you have a veteran in your family? Tag them or share a photo so we can thank them for their service! 🇺🇸

COAL GROVE PHARMACY FUN FACT FRIDAY:

Week 2: From Iron to Industry – Why "Coal Grove"?

Theme: Business & Local Origins

Ever wonder why we aren’t called "Iron Grove"? In the late 1800s, this area was the heart of the industrial boom!

• The Boom: Coal Grove was often called the "suburb of Ironton." In 1891, our growth exploded because we were perfectly positioned between the Ohio River and the railways.

• The Big Business: Before the modern era, the Yellow Poplar Lumber Company was one of the biggest employers in the area.

• The "Bad" History: It wasn’t always easy. Living in a coal and iron hub meant hard, dangerous work. Many of our ancestors worked in the 23 blast furnaces in Lawrence County, which at one time led the entire world in pig iron production!
