𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗔𝗡® AVAILABLE AT PARK COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH

𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗻® (naloxone is the generic name of this medication) is the antidote for opioid overdose and used to be administered only by first responders or in hospitals. Wyoming State Statutes §35-4-901 through 906 expand access to the public and allow pharmacies to sell 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗻® over the counter. It is now available at no cost from many organizations throughout the State, including at the following 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 locations:

*Both offices are open 8:00 am - 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Monday -Friday.

𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗻® can easily be administered as an aerosol into the nose by family, friends, or bystanders. It is not effective for overdose of benzodiazepines (such as Valium®, Xanax®, or Klonopin®) or other drug classes (such as methamphetamine or co***ne). It is variably and incompletely effective for kratom overdose. 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗻® cannot be abused and is not known to interact with any other medication. It can be lifesaving in cases of opioid overdose but is harmless if given to someone who has not overdosed. Those particularly at risk for opioid overdose include those who take prescription opioid pain medications and those who abuse illegal substances.

Individuals 18 years of age or older can pick up 2 doses of 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗻® and 1 fentanyl test kit (for testing unknown substances) at either 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 location. No record will be kept of those picking up 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗻® or fentanyl test kits.

*Do not bring an individual with suspected opioid overdose to 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, rather call 911.

The Risks of DIY Sunscreen:

1. Unpredictable Sun Protection Factor (SPF) - Homemade mixtures lack the stabilization and precise laboratory testing required to guarantee a specific SPF, leaving you vulnerable to severe sunburns and UV damage.
2. Uneven Particle Distribution - Without industrial-grade blending tools, mineral active ingredients like zinc oxide tend to clump together. This creates microscopic gaps on the skin where UV rays can pe*****te directly, regardless of how much is applied.
3. Lack of Water Resistance - Common home ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter wash or sweat off easily. They do not provide sustained protection without lab-engineered polymers that ensure the product adheres to the skin during activity.
4. Inhalation Hazards - Raw zinc oxide powder, a common ingredient in these recipes, is hazardous to handle in a home environment as the fine particles are dangerous to inhale during the mixing process.
