Wildfire season is here again, and while we can’t control the smoke, we can support our bodies through it. 🤍
Here are a few of the things I’m personally doing as a naturopathic doctor during wildfire season:
🌿 Move my body every day and sweat. Whether it’s exercise or spending time in the sauna, I love anything that gets me sweating. If I use the sauna, I always finish with a 1-minute cold rinse.
🌿 Take NAC. NAC is a precursor to glutathione, one of the body’s most powerful antioxidants, and helps support the liver’s natural detoxification processes.*
🌿 Keep a HEPA air filter running. Ours stays on around the clock to help keep the air inside our home as clean as possible.
🌿 Eat nourishing foods. I focus on plenty of whole, fiber-rich foods and limit alcohol during wildfire season to help reduce the burden on my body.
🌿 Stay hydrated. I aim to drink about half my body weight (in ounces) of water each day.
🌿 Give myself grace. This one might be the most important. Do your best and forget the rest. We live in a world that isn’t always predictable, and there are some things we simply can’t control. Instead of letting wildfire season steal your peace, focus on the small, meaningful things you can do to care for yourself. Those little choices really do add up. ❤️
If you’re feeling run down, have questions about protecting your health during wildfire season, or just want more personalized support, I’d love to help.
I’m currently accepting new patients at the clinic. Give us a call to schedule an appointment- we’re here for you.
