☀️ Real talk: Summer can be beautiful, but if you’re navigating a difficult relationship with food or body image, it can also feel like an absolute minefield...
If you’ve noticed disordered eating behaviors or anxious thoughts creeping up lately, take a deep breath. You aren't failing, and you aren't alone...
As dietitians, we see this shift every year. Swipe through the slides to see the 4 big summer triggers, and read below for a quick breakdown of why they may be happening:..
🚨 The "Summer Body" Pressure Peak: Warmer weather means less clothing and hyper-awareness of our bodies. This sudden vulnerability can trigger a desire to restrict or over-exercise to "earn" summer clothes...
📅 Routine Disruption: Structure is a safety net for recovery. Vacations, long days, and chaotic schedules disrupt eating windows, causing a panic that makes us want to control food...
🍔 The Social Food Surge: BBQs, picnics, and patio drinks mean eating in front of others and facing "fear foods." The pressure can lead to skipping meals beforehand or intense guilt afterward...
☀️ Appetite Shifts: It’s biologically normal for your appetite to dip in intense heat. However, a disordered mind will weaponize this as an "excuse" to skip meals, which only triggers intense biological hunger and shame later...
💚 Your Summer Reminder: You do not need to shrink to deserve a seat at the picnic. Your body requires consistent fuel every single day, regardless of the temperature or what you are wearing...
Give yourself grace, stick to your regular eating intervals, and remember that summer memories are worth so much more than macros!..
Save this for a day when the noise gets too loud. ..

It's ALMOST the weekend!!! Something we'd like you to try - retire the phrase "Cheat Meal" for this weekend...
Can we talk about how calling food a "cheat" implies you're doing something wrong? Food isn't a test you're trying to pass, and you aren't a criminal for enjoying a pizza!..
When we label weekend foods as "bad" or "cheating," we subconsciously set ourselves up for a cycle of guilt, restriction, and overeating...
Try these simple mindset shifts this weekend instead:
❌ Instead of: "I’m cheating with this burger."
✅ Try: "I’m excited to enjoy this delicious burger, and I'll listen to my body's hunger cues."
❌ Instead of: "I ruined my diet today, I'll just start over Monday."
✅ Try: "That was a great meal. My next meal is just another opportunity to get some colorful veggies and protein in."..
Friendly reminder from your team of WHN RDs: You don't need to "earn" your food, and you don't need to "burn it off." Enjoy your weekend, savor your food, and be kind to yourself! ✨..

We get asked all the time what a dietitian’s grocery cart looks like. People expect exotic superfoods, expensive powders, and perfectly aesthetic meal-prep containers...
Honestly? Our carts are usually pretty boring. 🛒..
We focus on budget-friendly, high-utility foundations that keep us fueled without taking up hours of time. Here are our top four non-negotiables that end up in our carts every single week:..
1️⃣ Fresh/Frozen Berries: Fresh if on sale and in season. Otherwise frozen ones, which are often cheaper than fresh and they don’t rot in the crisper drawer after three days. Berries are packed with fiber and antioxidants. We throw them into morning oats, smoothies, or yogurt bowls. 🍓
2️⃣ Fresh Spinach: The ultimate volume-booster. Toss a handful into scrambled eggs, wilt it into hot pasta sauces, or blend it into a smoothie. Pro-tip to stop the slime: Toss a dry paper towel into the container right when you get home to absorb excess moisture and double its shelf life! 🥬
3️⃣ Rotisserie Chicken: The ultimate lazy protein. We shred it for tacos, quick salads, or grain bowls on the nights when we have absolutely zero energy to cook from scratch. 🍗
4️⃣ Plain Greek Yogurt: Our secret weapon for gut health and a massive protein boost. We use it as a base for breakfast bowls, a substitute for sour cream, or mixed into sauces. 🥣..
What is ONE staple item that is always in your grocery cart? Let us know in the comments so we can add it to our list! 👇..

This Garlic Parmesan Chickpea Skillet is the ultimate "I have no time and nothing in the fridge" meal and is packed with fiber and plant based protein...
The 15-Minute Recipe:
1️⃣ Crisp 1 can of drained chickpeas in 1 tbsp olive oil for 5 mins.
2️⃣ Lower heat, add 2 minced garlic cloves and red pepper flakes for 1 min.
3️⃣ Toss in 2 big handfuls of spinach until wilted.
4️⃣ Remove from heat, finish with a squeeze of lemon and a shower of Parmesan cheese...
💡 Pro tip: make it a "Plate Method" meal! - The Plate Method is our go-to visual guide for balancing blood sugar and staying full. While this quick skillet is a fantastic base, you can balance it out like this:..
🥗 Make it 1/2 Veggies: Toss a cup of cherry tomatoes into the skillet with the garlic, or serve the whole thing over a massive bed of fresh arugula.
🌾 Make it 1/4 High Fiber Carbs: Scoop the skillet over 1/2 cup of cooked quinoa, brown rice, or serve it with a slice of crusty whole-grain bread to mop up that garlic oil...
Save this post for tonight when you’re staring blankly into the pantry asking “what can I make for dinner?!”! 📌..

A gentle reminder from your dietitians at Whole Health Nutrition 💟..
Food is fuel, comfort, and a basic human need—not a reward system. You don’t need to "compensate" for eating, and you don’t need to burn off your meals. Be kind to your body today...

Raise your hand if you’ve been made to feel like regular grocery store food isn't 'clean' enough, and that you need exotic supplements and powders and expensive trendy foods to be truly healthy. (Spoiler alert >>> You don’t.) 🤫..
As dietitians, we're here to let you in on a little secret: many of the real superfoods are already sitting in your grocery cart. 🛒..
You don’t need a massive budget to nourish your body - here are 3 everyday "underdog" foods that deserve just as much hype (if not more) as the fancy stuff:..
🍓Frozen berries: Just as nutritious as fresh (sometimes more so), can be lower in cost, and they don't go bad in the back of your fridge.
🫘 Canned beans: A dietitian favorite and the ultimate budget-friendly power food. They're packed with fiber, plant-based protein, and iron. Just rinse them off and throw them into salads, soups, or tacos.
🍳Your standard chicken egg (WITH the yolk!): A total nutritional powerhouse. They contain protein, choline for brain health, and vitamin D...
💡 Bottom line: Nutrition doesn't need to be complicated (or expensive) to be effective. Stick to the basics, focus on consistency, and remember that simple food still does amazing things for your body!..

We live in a culture that praises "less"—less food, smaller portions, fewer calories. But your body might be crying out for more fuel! ⛽..
Here are 3 signs you might not be eating enough:
1️⃣ The 3 PM Crash: You find yourself reaching for caffeine or sugar just to survive the afternoon.
2️⃣ Brain Fog: You're struggling to focus or make simple decisions.
3️⃣ Constant Food Thoughts: If you're constantly thinking about your next meal, your brain is likely signaling true hunger...
Nutrition isn't about eating less - it's about fueling your body and mind 💪🧠..

Our secret to a simpler meal prep routine 🍽..
A lot of our clients initially think that eating healthy requires spending your entire Sunday afternoon portioning out identical Tupperware containers for the week. But honestly, this usually just leads to food boredom and a bunch of soggy leftovers going to waste by Thursday...
Instead, let's focus on flexibility by using "mix and match" prepping instead of full meal prepping...
Instead of cooking full meals, you just prep individual building blocks of a meal that you can mix and match depending on what you’re actually in the mood for that day. ..
How to mix and match meal prep:
1. Cook two versatile proteins - think seasoned ground turkey, grilled chicken, or a batch of lentils.
2. Prep two complex carbs - roast a tray of sweet potatoes, make a pot of quinoa, or steam some rice.
3. Wash and chop your veggies ahead of time - we often hear the biggest barrier to eating veggies is usually the chopping.
4. Pick two sauces - the secret sauce to not getting bored! Just by swapping the sauce you can change the vibe of the meal - the same base of chicken and rice can taste like a Mediterranean bowl, a spicy peanut stir-fry, or a burrito bowl...
When you have these building blocks ready to go in the fridge, you can assemble a quick, balanced meal in no time. ..

Our preferred approach: Small Changes >>> Big Impact ..
Ever feel like your meals are missing a little something? You don’t need a total kitchen makeover to level up your nutrition. Sometimes, the best "superfoods" are the ones already sitting in your pantry or crisper drawer! ..
Swipe through to see a few of our favorite "hidden gem" add-ins that we recommend for an instant nutrient boost:..
🥑 Avocado: The ultimate creamy swap - Use it instead of mayo or butter to get those heart-healthy monounsaturated fats.
🍃 Spinach: The "invisible" veggie - Fold a handful into soups, pastas, or eggs. It wilts in seconds and adds a massive dose of vitamin k and iron without changing the flavor.
🌱 Chia & Flax: Small but mighty - These seeds are packed with fiber and Omega-3s. Sprinkle them on literally anything to stay full and keep your digestion on track...
