"Just pull from the floor" is not coaching.

For so many standing athletes with impairments, building a strong posterior chain requires creativity and a focus on stability first. Y'all, it's about finding smart ways to provide support, like a third point of contact, so the athlete can safely master the hinge and build power where it counts.

You can't truly coach what you don't understand, right?

So, we’re down here at CrossFit Seadog putting coaches through an "empathy workout" to help them actually feel the mechanics of rowing and wall balls from a seated or single-arm perspective. It’s honestly the most powerful way to bridge the gap between basic awareness and becoming a high-level adaptive coach who can handle any athlete that walks through the door.

This is what progress looks like 🙌

ATA was honored to partner with So Every BODY Can Move to celebrate the passage of legislation (in Maryland) expanding access to prosthetic and orthotic care for people with physical disabilities

SEBCM’s mission is simple but powerful:
👉 Ensure that people with disabilities have access to the care and technology they need to move, participate, and live active lives

And this weekend was exactly that in action

Coaches. Athletes. Prosthetic users. Families. Fitness professionals.
All coming together for an all-abilities workshop focused on movement, education, and inclusion

From squat clinics to adaptive equipment demos, the energy in the room was unreal and it was a reminder that accessibility isn’t just healthcare policy… it’s community!!!!

Big thank you to everyone who showed up and continues pushing t

What makes someone dedicate their career to adaptive fitness?

🧐 A new qualitative research study had an interesting answer...

It wasn’t a certification
It wasn’t a business opportunity
It wasn’t a continuing education requirement

✅ It was a human connection

Researchers interviewed fitness professionals from across North America who had completed adaptive fitness certifications and found a remarkably consistent pattern:

➡️ They volunteered at an adaptive sports event
➡️ They had a family member with a disability
➡️ A client with Parkinson’s disease came into their gym
➡️ A person with autism joined their program
➡️ Someone needed their help

Exposure came first 👉 Education followed

That finding reinforces something we’ve believed at Adaptive Training Academy for years: Get proximate to the people who need you

✅ Volunteer. Attend adaptive sporting events. Watch the Paralympics. Visit an adaptive gym. Spend time with people whose experiences are different from your own.

Because when disability stops being an abstract idea and becomes a real person you know, everything changes

👀 You stop seeing a diagnosis. You start seeing another human being with goals, challenges, strengths, and potential

And sometimes, that single relationship becomes the beginning of an entirely new career and an entirely new purpose
