We would love to have your vote. Acara Hospice is a 5-star hospice. We are owned by Dana and Stacey Rowse. Dana is a respiratory therapist by background, and Stacey is a registered nurse. We are set up as a for-profit hospice with a not-for-profit partnership. This means two things: we pay taxes, and any money donated to the foundation will go towards its three missions: build & support a hospice house, provide Wish Grants, offer end-of-life community education. You can learn more by following Acara Hospice Foundation.
In the last year, we have provided care to 526 patients and their families. We have provided 1,450 days of charity care. We employ 72 incredible people in our community. Our mission is to provide a care above for the ones you love. We love this community; our home and family are here, and we are grateful for your support.

Love the logo and all it represents 💕

We are so excited to officially introduce the new logo for the Acara Hospice Foundation!

This beautiful new design was created by the incredibly talented Nicole Holmes of Zeal Design Studio after we were honored to win her Brand Boost Giveaway — and we truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the experience of working with her.

Nicole is thoughtful and intuitive, asking good questions, listening deeply to her clients, and transforming those conversations into designs that genuinely reflect the heart and mission of the organizations she serves. We loved every concept she presented to us (so much so that choosing was difficult!), but ultimately selected this logo because it felt like the truest representation of who we are as a foundation.

The logo features bright, bold Acara Hospice colors and a sun that can be seen as either rising or setting — symbolizing the Acara Hospice Foundation’s commitment to shining light and walking alongside hospice patients and families through both beginnings and endings. The sunshine element is also an intentional nod to our Brightside Thrift logo.

Beneath the sun is a green plant, representing our desire to nurture, hospice patients in our community through free hospice education, as well as physical and financial assistance.

Finally, the entire logo is framed within a house-shaped structure — a reminder of our long-term vision to build and sustain a community hospice house.

We absolutely love our new logo and are excited to begin rolling it out across our website, materials, and future projects. Most of all, we are deeply grateful to Nicole for the care, creativity, and thoughtfulness she poured into helping us establish a brand identity of our own.

Thank you, Nicole, for bringing our vision to life!

In Australia, a man named Alfie Date moved into a retirement home at the age of 109. About 12 hours after he arrived, two of the nurses came to his room and asked if he could knit. He could, he’d been at it since 1932.

They told him about a program asking volunteers to knit tiny woolen sweaters for an endangered species called Little Penguins. The sweaters stop oil-covered birds from cleaning themselves with their beaks during a spill, because the oil is toxic if they swallow it. Alfie said yes. He spent his last two years knitting hundreds of them. He died in 2016, at 110. Shared by Dr. Lemma originally.
