Welcome to our first full day in Lausanne, Switzerland 🇨🇭 it was an adventure getting here… flights delayed, canceled, rebooked, delayed, delayed for days, rebooked. But we made it!! Sans luggage, which took an extra day.
Meanwhile, I’m soaking up alllll the cooler weather. Loving the sunshine. The wind is a bit nippy since my big coat was in my checked bag 🧥
We walked a Rick Steves' Europe self-guided tour of Lausanne (a strong 4-star experience).
Tried to eat La Chandeleur which is all GF!! And looked and smelled amazing— but all the crepes have milk so we graciously kept walking.
Then found LA CHOCOLATIERE where we greatly enjoyed the wide selection and well labeled GF DF options!🍫 I “stocked up” 🤭 and it was only 10CHF, delish, portion controlled sweeties at a fair price ❤️
Our walking tour took us near Racines which provided an absolutely PERFECT healthful snack lunch for us. While we ate two young moms came in with their infants🥹 I couldn’t stop staring and realized I have grandbaby fever, is that a thing? It must be. But our food was fresh and ordering was refreshingly and joyously simple “yes, everything is DF, and only this small area has gluten”.
Then we swung by El Gato Pâtisserie to see about ordering a cake for the weekend. With the holy-days coming up, they will be closed all weekend but the attendant went above and beyond for us to make GF DF recommendations for us. Kindness y’all. If we could have stuffed another morsel in I would have ordered some of their expertly adorable pastries. If you go, let me know how delicious they are!
And our GF DF Swiss adventure continues… keep in touch!
