Our View

Our View To Educate, raise awareness and change the tone of conversation on topics related to disabilities Our View was created in 2010 by Arthur Aston.

Arthur was born with spina bifida, a birth defect that impacts his mobility. Taking note of how inaccessible and non-inclusive the world can be for those living with disabilities, he created Our View with the mission to educate, raise awareness, and to change the tone of conversation about disabilities. In addition, we aim to change the perception of how the world views those who live with disabil

ities, and how those who live with disabilities view themselves. From October 2013-July 2025, Arthur served as Executive Director of Build Jake's Place, a New Jersey based nonprofit organization named in memory of baby Jake Nasto. Jake's Place focused on creating inclusive play spaces (playgrounds) and experiences for every body, of every ability. The organization fundraised to build two inclusive playgrounds in New Jersey, and because of their efforts, 97 new inclusive playgrounds will be built in the state, because of Jake's Law. This law allows for counties and townships in the state to apply for Green Acres grants to build new inclusive playgrounds. In the summer of 2025, Build Jake's Place officially changed names to Our View. Under Arthur's leadership as Executive Director, Our View operates the Camden county New Jersey Miracle League, a baseball league for disabled children and adults. We host days of play at local Jake's Place playgrounds, facilitates school assemblies and workplace seminars on topics related to disabilities, and produces Our View, The Podcast. This was a nice notification to wake up to this morning! I started this podcast in June 2020. I truly believe that we begin to break stereotypes through having conversations. Knowledge truly is power!

My mission in creating this podcast was and still remains to share the stories, the lived experiences of individuals who live with disabilities. To share the stories of the families and caregivers. Because my educational background is in psychology, I also wanted to highlight stories that educated about mental health.

Today, August 13, 2026, The 150th episode of Our View The Podcast has been published! This year I have taken on the task of releasing a new episode every week.

Thank you to everyone who has listened to an episode (or to all of them), and to those of you who have shared the episodes. Your support means everything.

The episodes can be found wherever you listen to your podcast and also on our YouTube page here: https://youtu.be/V32u5rbswXA?is=m1jVPjKHUHgnKYIe

It’s never too late to catch up on previous episodes, and be sure to subscribe so you do not miss the upcoming episodes. 🌎

What a great evening last night celebrating with Evesham Township at the opening of their brand new inclusive playground!

The township received grant funding from the state of New Jersey through their Green Acres Jake’s Law Program.

With the opening of each inclusive playground we honor Jake Cummings- Nasto for whom Build Jakes Place and Jake’s Law was named in memory of.

Seeing so many families out to celebrate this grand opening truly warmed our our hearts.

There are many more playgrounds to come!! 🌎🛝
