๐Ÿพ Community PSA: Service Dogs Are Working ๐Ÿพ

As the weather warms up, you may start seeing service dogs accompanying their handlers more frequently throughout our community, including here at Farm Hippie.

While we know these dogs are adorable, friendly, and often spark curiosity, it's important to remember that service dogs are not pets when they're working. They are highly trained medical equipment performing important tasks that help keep their handlers safe and independent.

For some handlers, a service dog may be monitoring for medical episodes, alerting to health changes, providing mobility assistance, or helping prevent serious medical emergencies before they happen.

The best way to support a service dog team is simple:

๐Ÿพ Speak to the handler, not the dog.
๐Ÿพ Avoid petting, feeding, calling to, or distracting the dog.
๐Ÿพ Respect their space.
๐Ÿพ Don't take photos without permission.
๐Ÿพ Understand that handlers may not always be able to stop and answer questions.

Even a brief distraction can interrupt a service dog's focus and ability to perform its job.

Most handlers are simply trying to go about their day, shop, work, attend appointments, or enjoy community events just like everyone else.

Thank you for helping create a welcoming and respectful environment for all members of our communityโ€”both two-legged and four-legged.

This week, we're celebrating the farmers, growers, ranchers, bakers, makers, and producers who help keep local food and local business thriving across Oklahoma.

While Farm Hippie may look a little different than a traditional farmers market, our mission has always been the same: creating a place where local producers can connect with their community and share the fruits of their hard work.

Every jar, loaf, bouquet, cut of meat, carton of eggs, handcrafted item, and homegrown product on our shelves represents someone's early mornings, late nights, hard work, and passion.

To celebrate Oklahoma Farmers Market Week, we're keeping things simple.

Please help us welcome Christine of Cat's Garden to the Farm Hippie family!

What started as a love of gardening in 2023 has blossomed into a thriving garden full of fresh produce, herbs, and homemade creations. Like many gardeners, Christine has learned that nature can be both beautiful and frustrating, but she embraces the challenge. From attracting pollinators to naturally managing pests, she is passionate about growing healthy, productive gardens and turning that harvest into products her community can enjoy.

One of her favorite things about gardening is growing the ingredients that go directly into the foods she creates. Whether she's making salsa, grape butter, applesauce, spaghetti sauce, jams, jellies, or drying herbs for teas and seasonings, much of what she offers begins right in her own garden.

You'll find a wonderful selection of homemade and homegrown products from Cat's Garden, including:
