Every year, I mentor a college student who is studying nutrition or dietetics, and every year, I try to assign them to write a guest post for my blog. It gives them practice writing, communicating nutrition science, etc.
But it's also such an opportunity for conversation about diet culture, disordered eating, our food system, and the role of nutrition professionals in discussing how the relationship we all have with food and with our bodies influences how we eat, how we live, and how we feel. The transformations that this article went through in Renee's and my editing process were testament to that ongoing discussion and to what I hope she's learned from our work together.
