As this Juneteenth comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the significance of this day and the enduring pursuit of freedom, opportunity, and equity.

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and honors the resilience, contributions, and achievements of generations who helped shape our nation.

At the South Carolina Cancer Alliance, we recognize that advancing health equity is part of building stronger, healthier communities for all. Today, and every day, we remain committed to reducing disparities and improving outcomes across South Carolina.

As we reflect on the past and look toward the future, we wish you a meaningful Juneteenth.

These numbers are unacceptable. Too many people are dying from breast cancer simply because of who they are or where they live.

We’re leading a Komen Health Equity Revolution to change that β€” by breaking down barriers to care, listening to the communities most impacted and making sure everyone has the knowledge and support to protect their breast health.

Cancer impacts more than physical health. Support, connection, and community matter too.

If you or someone you love is navigating a cancer diagnosis, McLeod Health offers several support groups for patients, survivors, caregivers, and loved ones. These groups provide a safe space to share experiences, gain resources, learn coping strategies, and connect with others who understand the journey.

Please share this resource with anyone who may benefit.

Today, we're feeling something that isn't always easy to find in the cancer space: hope.

New data on multi cancer early detection (MCED) testing continues to reinforce the importance of finding cancer earlier. Research suggests these tools may help identify significantly more cancers when used alongside existing screening methods, including cancers that currently have no routine screening options.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, a future, and the possibility of a different outcome.

As we continue observing Cancer Survivors Month, we're encouraged by the progress being made in early detection and what it could mean for future generations.

Because more early detection can mean more survivors.
