MPhA members, friends and family joined on Saturday, August 8 to volunteer at the Maryland Food Bank. It was a fun chance to contribute to our community in a different way, meet new pharmacy phriends and reconnect with others. 45 volunteers, during a two-hour shift, packed 29 pallets (~23 tons) of food. The Food Bank approximates that one pound of food is equivalent to one meal. So, our work will contribute to the distribution of 23,000 meals this week! Thank you to our membership engagement leaders Miaka Tieu-Phung Huynh and Sophie Soo and Sophie Soo for coordinating this impactful activity!

Maryland Pharmacists Association members gathered in Columbia, MD as part of our MixeRx series for an educational dinner sponsored by GSK. It was an engaging opportunity to connect with new and long-time pharmacy phriends and discuss severe eosinophilic asthma, pathophysiology and precision medicine. And how awesome, our GSK medical science liaison/presenter for the evening was former NDMU School of Pharmacy faculty member Regine Veillard. Attendees represented a multitude of practice settings including FDA, Medicaid, managed care, industry as well as ambulatory care, community and specialty pharmacy. The diversity of Maryland Pharmacists Association members in attendance contributed to robust conversation.

This was also the first member event for newly installed President Eriny Victor, PharmD, MBA, BCPS and Vice President Lauren Lakdawala, PharmD, BCACP. Thanks to all who came out. We look forward to connecting with more members at future events. See you soon!

What a Weekend!

The 144th Annual Convention was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the people who make Maryland pharmacy stronger every day. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Ocean City for a weekend filled with education, networking, fellowship, and fun.

A heartfelt thank you to Mark Hindman for his outstanding leadership and dedication during his year as MPhA President. His commitment to the profession and the association has helped move MPhA forward in meaningful ways, and we are grateful for his service.

We also extend our warmest congratulations to Eriny Victor, who was installed as the 2026–2027 MPhA President. We look forward to the year ahead under her leadership and vision.

The weekend was filled with memorable moments—from those who braved the early morning beach walk to the conversations and laughs shared around the beach fire pit. It was a great reminder that some of the best parts of convention happen outside the meeting rooms.

We were also thrilled to celebrate this year's outstanding award recipients:

Mentor Award: Salematou T-Uwalaka, PharmD, BCPS, CCHP
Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award: Amy Kruger Howard, MS, PharmD, FFIP
Innovation Award: Rodolfo (Antonio) Romero, PharmD
Pharmacy Advocate Award: Marie-Therese Oyalowo, BS, PharmD, BCOP, RN, FNAP
Honorary President (Posthumous): The Honorable John Frederick Fader, II
Seidman Distinguished Service Award: Christine Lee, PharmD
Bowl of Hygeia Award: Brian Hose, PharmD, FACA

Congratulations as well to all of our student award recipients and scholarship winners. Your hard work, dedication, and passion for the profession are inspiring, and we can't wait to see what you accomplish in the years ahead.

Finally, we'd love your help! If you snapped photos throughout the weekend—whether during CE sessions, social events, the sunrise beach walk, the fire pit, or anywhere in between—please share them with us. We'd love to feature your favorite convention memories in our upcoming photo gallery.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, presented, volunteered, exhibited, and sponsored this year's convention. We can't wait to do it all again next year!
