Y’all come get some wagashi and a cuppa tea at The Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival tomorrow!

The Apothecary’s tea bar and J. Cottage will be side by side near the koi pond. Your Tea Mistress will be moving back and forth between the tents and serving traditionally prepared matcha in a nice calm area.

Wagashi work in progress! I flavored the entire batch a delightful sweet orange, but look for these natural colors that add an extra layer of flavor:

Green ➡️ Matcha 🍵
Pink ➡️ Cherry Blossom 🌸
Red ➡️ Hibiscus 🌺
Brown ➡️ Chocolate 🍫

This week we are starting the process of making wagashi for the The Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival! The Tea Mister has the hardest job, stirring the ingredients on the stove for over an hour until the bean paste, rice flour and sugar form a moldable dough (called nerikiri). Once we have the nerikiri, the Tea Mistress will spend a few hours every day creating detailed pieces of wagashi. Crafting wagashi is very relaxing and the Tea Mistress is looking forward to this daily ritual.

Great News! To celebrate the new tea exemption, all packaged tea will be 10% off for the next week starting tomorrow!

Coffee, tea, tropical fruits and fruit juices are now exempt from the 10% global tariff and similar country-specific duties implemented by President Donald Trump earlier this year.
