Behind every successful residency program is a strong support system, and since joining our team in December, Hannah has embraced that role wholeheartedly. As our Program Coordinator, Hannah works alongside residents throughout all five years of their training, helping ensure they have the resources and support they need to succeed. πŸ’™πŸ―

A proud graduate of the University of Missouri, Hannah fell in love with Columbia during her four years as a student and knew it was where she wanted to build her future. She loves the city's unique blend of small-town charm and the energy that comes with being a thriving college town. πŸŒ³πŸ™οΈ

While Hannah never envisioned herself in graduate medical education, she quickly discovered a passion for supporting residents and helping the program continue to grow and excel.

From onboarding incoming residents and managing credentials, licenses, and certifications to coordinating schedules, educational activities, and travel arrangements, Hannah is there every step of the way during a resident's five-year journey. She also enjoys helping medical students connect with shadowing opportunities, allowing them to explore specialties, discover their passions, and gain meaningful experiences that help shape their future careers. πŸ“šβœˆοΈπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ

When she's not supporting residents, Hannah is spending her weekends quite literally building her home from the ground up. πŸ‘πŸ”¨

Some of her favorite local spots include COMO Smoke and Fire and D. Rowe's, where she enjoys spending time with family and friends. 🍽️

A lifelong Mizzou Tigers fan, Hannah grew up dreaming of living in Columbia, and now she proudly calls it home. πŸ―πŸ’›πŸ–€

We are grateful for Hannah's dedication, creativity, and commitment to our residents, faculty, and students. Her passion for helping others navigate their training journey has made a lasting impact on our program, and we are fortunate to have her on our team.

πŸ‘ Thank you, Hannah, for all you do!

After five years of dedication, growth, and leadership in our residency program, Chief Resident Bhavya is preparing for an exciting next chapter as he heads to train with Dr. Paul Nassif in a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. 🌟

When asked what he'll miss most about residency, Bhavya reflected on the relationships and personal growth he experienced throughout the program:
"Watching myself improve over five years and getting to know and become close friends with my attendings and team."

Outside of the hospital, Bhavya appreciates everything Columbia has to offer. He enjoys the city's peaceful atmosphere, affordability, and convenience, along with all the opportunities and amenities that come with being part of a thriving college town. πŸŒ³πŸ™οΈ

One of his favorite local spots is Meriwether CafΓ© & Bike Shop in Rocheport, a perfect destination to relax and enjoy the beauty of mid-Missouri. β˜•πŸš΄

On a free weekend, you can usually find him working out, watching anime, taking a walk outdoors, or staying active with a new adventure. πŸ’ͺπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸ“Ί

A fun fact about Bhavya? Medicine truly runs in the family! He has four siblings who are all physicians, including an identical twin brother who specializes in dermatology. πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈβœ¨

We are incredibly proud of all that Bhavya has accomplished during his time in our program. His dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on our department, and we can't wait to see all he achieves in fellowship and beyond.

Congratulations, Bhavya! We're excited to watch you thrive in this next chapter. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Megan Gillespie, one of our current chief residents, will be heading to the Cleveland Clinic after graduation this June to pursue a fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction. πŸŽ“βš•οΈ

When she's not in the hospital, you can find Megan enjoying some of Columbia's best spots, including Beet Box, Flyover, and Endwell. On a free weekend, she loves running on the Katy Trail and grabbing a coffee at Shortwave.

What she'll miss most about Columbia? The incredible sense of community and cheering on the Tigers on game day. πŸ―πŸ’›πŸ–€

Reflecting on her last five years in the program, Megan says her favorite part has been the people:
"The mentors who challenged me to become a better surgeon and clinician. The co-residents who made me laugh on the hardest days. The OR staff who made every turnover feel like catching up with friends. And the friends who reminded me over a post-call coffee (or b**r) that there's life outside the hospital."

Congratulations, Megan! We can't wait to see all you'll accomplish in this next chapter. β€οΈπŸ‘

When he's not in the hospital, you can find him enjoying some of Columbia's favorite spots, including Flyover, Beet Box, Goldie's Bagels, Kampai, and International Tap House. On a free weekend, he loves a long run on the MKT Trail followed by lunch at a local brewery, grabbing breakfast and coffee downtown, or relaxing at home with his fiancΓ©e and two cats. β˜•πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ±

What he'll miss most about residency? The incredible group of co-residents who made life both inside and outside the hospital fun.

Reflecting on his last five years in the program, he says:
"Working alongside a great group of co-residents that have made life at work and outside of work fun."

Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling and exploring national parks, with recent adventures taking him to Yosemite, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Banff. He also loves staying active and completed the Kansas City Marathon with his co-residents last year. The team is now training for the Philadelphia Marathon this fall! πŸ”οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
