This past Thursday and Friday, members of Maury Regional EMS attended the Difficult Airway Course provided by Vanderbilt LifeFlight.🚁

Maury Regional EMS personnel are required to complete this course every two years to maintain compliance and ensure our providers remain equipped with the most current knowledge, techniques, and best practices in airway management.

Continuing education like this allows our team to provide you with the safest, most effective, and up-to-date care possible when you need us most. We are committed to continuously improving our skills and staying prepared for even the most challenging emergencies.

Thank you to Vanderbilt LifeFlight for providing this valuable training and continuing to support the education and preparedness of EMS providers in our community. 🚑 🚁

We would also like to thank Maury County Office Of Emergency Management for always providing us with a place to learn!

☀️ HEAT ADVISORY: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FOUR-LEGGED FAMILY TOO! 🐾

With temperatures climbing and a Heat Advisory in effect, it’s important to remember that extreme heat can become dangerous quickly, not just for people, but for our animals too.

🌡️ For yourself:
• Stay hydrated, even if you don’t feel thirsty
• Limit time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
• Never leave children, elderly individuals, or anyone vulnerable in a hot vehicle
• Check on family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who may need extra help staying cool

🐶 For your pets:
• Make sure they have access to plenty of fresh, cool water
• Keep them indoors or somewhere shaded and well-ventilated
• Avoid walking them on hot pavement. If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
• Never leave an animal inside a parked vehicle
• Remember that pets can overheat much faster than we do

🚨 Know the signs of heat illness: confusion, dizziness, weakness, headache, nausea/vomiting, heavy sweating, rapid pulse, or loss of consciousness.
In animals, watch for excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, stumbling, or collapse.

If you suspect a heat-related emergency, call 911. Move the person to a cooler environment and begin cooling measures while waiting for help.

EMS may be called to take care of humans, but our community includes animals too. 🐾❤️ Keep an eye out for the ones who depend on us to recognize when they’re in danger.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Check on your people. Check on your pets.

Thank you Paramedic Shook for helping out a four legged friend! 🚑
