Today we celebrate 111 years of black land ownership. My great grandfather Henry (Katie) Meridith purchased 185 acres of land on the Legendary Ripshin Road on 10.4.1915–just 50 years after slavery ended!

The Black Farmers Index is connecting consumers directly with Black farmers, growers, fisherfolk, and other agriculturalists across the country. Founded by Kaia Shivers, the resource makes it easier to find fresh food locally while giving Black agriculturalists greater visibility, resources, and support.
