Here are some helpful reminders to foster inclusion as students head back to school!
Inclusion Tips for Back to School:
🤝 Encourage kindness: Remind children that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.
👋 Include everyone: Encourage your child to invite others to play, sit with them at lunch or join group activities.
💬 Use respectful language: Teach children to choose words that are kind and respectful when talking about differences.
👀 Notice when someone is left out: Encourage your child to look around and make an effort to include classmates who may be alone.
❤️ Celebrate differences: Talk about how everyone has different strengths, interests, abilities and ways of learning.
🧩 Be a good teammate: Encourage children to be patient and work together, even when someone does things differently.
😊 Make everyone feel welcome: A smile, a hello or asking someone to join in can make a big difference.
🌟 Focus on what we have in common: Help children discover shared interests instead of focusing on differences.
💙 Lead by example: Show children what inclusion looks like through your own words and actions.
Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in helping every child feel welcome and included!
