The Center for Healthy Families

The Center for Healthy Families Our purpose is to break the cycle of disadvantage that teen childbearing perpetuates through a holistic, coordinated system of community support.

Our vision is to be a catalyst for systemic change in the lives of teen parents and their children by not only what we do, but how we do it. For us, the means is as important as the end result. Breaking the cycle of disadvantage that teen childbearing perpetuates through a holistic, coordinated community system of support sums up the end result, and the means by which we plan to achieve it. Our pr

omise is to build bridges to brighter futures for parenting teens and their children. Creating a model of support that can be replicated in other communities is part of our vision.

Although it is the last day of April, the awareness efforts must go on. What a month it has been. 500+ pinwheels. Buildings lit blue. Commission Meetings. Proclamations signed. Wear Blue Day. Blue Sunday. And a community that showed up, every single day. Thank you, Columbus. 💙 Thank you to our partners Franklin County Children Services and the many volunteers! Stay engaged with us about this very important initiative and others. THANK YOU!

Before April ends, here is what you can do year-round to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention. Volunteer, Donate, learn the signs, and speak up. Support families. Child abuse prevention does not stay in April. This work is happening everyday. 💙

Reflecting on the Franklin County Children Services breakfast - Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention 💙

The Spoken Word piece recited by Elias Jones Burk, What's Going On, was timely and well-delivered.

Let this be a reminder that the youth are advocates as well. Our youth care about issues that affect them and the world around them. It is our job to give them opportunities to be seen, heard, and valued, as not only a member of society but a voice in the important conversations that we have.

It's National Home Visiting Week!

We celebrate and recognize home visitors and the positive impact they make on maternal and child health outcomes. Home visiting connects pregnant and parenting families with young children to trained family support professionals who provide customized coaching and guidance through pregnancy and the early stages of a child’s development. Utilizing a variety of evidence-based models. Home visiting supports healthy birth outcomes, increases family self-sufficiency, and helps children enter school fully prepared to succeed.

Home visiting programs are offered in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. In 2025, more than 284,000 families engaged in home visiting services in the U.S.

More of our community came out to place pinwheels for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness! Did you spot Judge Laurel Beatty Blunt - 10th District Court of Appeals or Director Kym Douglas, City of Columbus Recreation & Parks, and Scott Varner, Franklin County Children Services, Director of Communications & Community Outreach?

We are grateful to those who show up for our most vulnerable populations. Together, we will change futures for the better!
