SDDA is truly a great event! Here’s why 👇

South Dakota and Minnesota dental teams showed up in a big way for verbal de-escalation and conflict management training and that room was locked in from start to finish. Big thank you to Melissa Afdahl for putting together such a thoughtful group.

Shoutout to their president, Dr. Rick Fuchs, for leadership! 🤝 He had actually seen my promotional reel earlier and said he loved it! That truly meant a lot 🙏

It was also great to see , We always seem to cross paths on the speaking tour and it’s always a treat to run into him. Oh, and we can’t forget about our first place winners, Roarie Anderson and Ashley Berke! Congrats again ladies, you deserve it! 🎉

DFW, you did it AGAIN. 🤠 North TX Oral and Facial Surgery brought the BEST crowd, the kindest humans, and an amazing team that LOVES to learn!

Every year they invite me back (and hey, maybe eventually they'll get tired of me😆) but I'll happily continue to go to DFW to speak as long as I’m invited!💙

REVEALED: What nobody talks about when you travel so much as a speaker. I’m here to tell it all!👇

Before I ever step on a stage, there is a whole process happening behind the scenes.👀 The night before I am making sure I sleep well because rest is not optional when you are about to bring the ENERGY to a room for hours.⚡️

The morning of I am navigating whatever the hotel has available for breakfast, and as a vegetarian, that list gets short fast. Nothing greasy, nothing heavy, all very intentional.

I also travel with Gas-X, Pepto Bismol, and antacid every time. It is not glamorous but it is PRACTICAL. When your entire program depends on you being physically present and on, you prepare for every scenario. Frankly, if I am not well, there is no course!

This particular event had nearly 500 people in that room!😳When people depend on you, I’ve got to make sure I prepare correctly. 🤝

What if your team left OSHA training feeling more confident, more engaged, and maybe even a little excited? 🤩

That is always the goal.

There are many wonderful speakers and consultants in dentistry who bring tremendous value to this space, and I am grateful to be one of the people helping practices make safety education feel more practical, memorable, and human.

Because let’s be honest, most teams do not need another boring lecture. They need training that connects the dots between compliance, infection control, daily habits, and the real-world moments that can put a practice at risk.

My goal is to take the topics your team may quietly dread, like OSHA, safety, and infection control, and turn them into something they can actually understand, remember, and use.
And the feedback means the world. 💫

When teams say they felt engaged, learned something new, or walked away seeing safety differently, that is the win.

But training is only one piece of the puzzle. Many practices do not realize where their gaps are until something goes wrong, an exposure incident, an inspection, a complaint, or a process breakdown.

Your spore test failed... Now what?👇

Most practices run their biological indicators every week without missing a beat. But the test isn't the hard part. The hard part is what happens in the 60 minutes after a positive result comes back and everyone in the room goes quiet…😬

This is what I’ve seen a lot over the decades I’ve been training practices. Teams that are diligent about running the test and completely unprepared for the moment it tells them something is wrong. No response protocol. No documentation trail. No clear person in charge. 😫

Being confused and panicking over safety situations, big or small, is what leads to breaches in protocol and potential fines!! Let’s get your team CONFIDENT, not scared.

When your family doctor shows up to your OSHA training👀You’ve GOT to hear this story!👇

I’m still smiling after receiving the best post event feedback recently! From Hinman where 100% of attendees agreed or strongly agreed with the course experience. The only complaint was apparently the room temperature. 😂

This year we brought TWO powerful conversations to healthcare professionals:

✨ “Now We’ve Got Bad Blood” focused on workplace violence and verbal de-escalation.
✨ “Talk Dirty to Me” tackled OSHA and Infection Control in a way that continues to sell out rooms year after year.

I like to make references to a favorite pop star to keep it relatable, engaging, and FUN. Because people remember better when they can laugh while learning! 😊

I was also incredibly honored to present Workplace Violence Prevention training for the Ohio Association of Community Health Clinics.

And THE MOST unexpected thing happened 😳My own family doctor was in the audience! (Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either!)

She had no idea I was presenting. She simply saw the course was nearly sold out, thought the topic sounded valuable, and registered!

Following the training, I was invited to provide additional half-day safety training for two more community health clinics! Thank you again to everyone who made this possible & supported🤝

Sometimes the people who believe in you before you believe in yourself are the ones who change everything! ✨I wanted to share this story with you…

For years, Dr. Mary Ship kept telling me, “You need to speak at Star of the North!” And for years, she continued encouraging me, supporting me, and putting in a good word for me.

Until… One year it finally happened! And I could not be more grateful. 💙

She never stopped believing and truly cared. And honestly?

Those are the people worth appreciating loudly.

Also a very special thank you to Dr. Lyubov Slashcheva for being the best room host! 🙏

It was truly an honor to speak at the Star of the North Dental Meeting in Minnesota ( ).

It was amazing being surrounded by so many passionate dental speakers & professionals committed to improving their practices, protecting their teams, and continuing to learn.

This experience was such a reminder that sometimes opportunities grow because someone else kept opening the door for you, even when you hesitated to walk through it yourself.

To everyone who attended the session, thank you for the thoughtful conversations, questions, and support. I loved connecting with all of you! Shoutout to and more!

If your safety plan lives in a binder, raise your hand. 👋 Now keep it up if you actually know where it is or what to do in a moment of emergency…😬

Ahh, what if there was just a person who could keep track of all that complicated safety stuff?

Reality check: You already have a Safety Champion. They just have not given that person the role, the structure, or the support to actually run it!

That person is your Infection Control Coordinator (the ICC). The quiet hero buried in your Exposure Control Plan, expected to know everything, answer everything, and somehow keep the whole team compliant on top of their actual job. ‍ 😬

Plot twist. The ICC was never meant to be the expert in everything. The role is the coordinator. They really connect CDC guidance to what is actually happening chairside.

ICCs need a few pretty specific things to thrive in that role (SWIPE to see them in the next slides!➡️)

If your ICC is missing one of these, that is your next move. Not a new binder. Not another checklist. 📝

I had THE BEST TIME at WEvolution 2026! Thank you as always for hosting the best events! 🎉

It was the best time and I was incredibly honored to present alongside other fabulous speakers! Including and more! →SWIPE to see some photos I took during that event👀

By the end? We were hugging and refusing to leave. Vanessa Emerson (), you absolute GEM, you do not just throw an event. You build a community. And you can feel it from the second you walk in. 🫶

But here is the moment that wrecked me in the best way.👀
I walked in, looked up, and there it was on the wall. The EXACT Holstee poster that hung on my office wall 9 YEARS AGO. The same line jumped out at me that screamed "if you don't like your job, quit" at me on the day I walked away from my last career.

That brought me back to the time where I was unhappy in my career path and knew I was meant for something different, something more.

FIND YOUR TRIBE! That’s why community is so important. Be in the right rooms! The kinds of rooms where you walk in unsure and walk out unstoppable. That is what WEvolution is. 🦸
