Want to learn more about Juneteenth and the history behind this important celebration of freedom and resiliency? Follow Black History Columbus.

Juneteenth 1865 was not the end of the story. It was the beginning of a new one. ✊🏾

In the years and decades that followed the day enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free, Black Americans continued to fight for all that had been promised:

🗳️ The right to vote — won in 1870, stolen through a century of Jim Crow, and clawed back in 1965.

🏫 Education, housing, economic opportunity — segregated, redlined, and gatekept...but ultimately won.

⚖️ Civil rights legislation in 1964 and 1965 — the result of generations of organizing, protest, and sacrifice.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not a moment. It is a direction. And every generation is called to move toward it. 🕊️

Black History Month Columbus exists to keep that movement alive — through education, storytelling, and community. 💛🖤❤️

We're grateful to be on this road with you. 🙏🏾

We are celebrating a cardiology milestone this week. 💓

Our Cath Lab electrophysiology (EP) team, led by Dr. Albert Sey, completed the 100th minimally invasive procedure using the Varipulse Platform for atrial fibrillation (AFib).

AFib patients and their families experience the expertise of the CRH EP team, using advanced cardiology technology, for the best arrhythmia treatments available in our region.

Varipulse pulsed field ablation helps to enhance electrical pathway mapping within the heart, allowing for more precise treatment and ablation of the areas of the heart causing AFib. This platform leads to safer, more predictable outcomes and long-term effectiveness of ablation therapy.

Dad bod. Beer belly. Spare tire.

Behind the humorous references, danger lurks. The health effects of extra fat in the abdomen are serious. Men who have an unhealthy amount of body fat, specifically around their middles, have a greater risk for:

⚠️ Heart disease
⚠️ A dangerous type of irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation
⚠️ Cardiovascular disease
⚠️ Diabetes
⚠️ High blood pressure
⚠️ Stroke

Some of these effects can occur even in men who don’t technically qualify as overweight or obese by measures such as body mass index (BMI).
