On International S*x Workers Day, we stand with s*x workers and all communities harmed by HIV criminalization.

Punitive laws fuel stigma, discrimination, and barriers to care instead of protecting public health.

Today, we honor every person who served this country.
That includes veterans living with HIV who come home to stigma, barriers to care, and in some cases, the threat of criminalization for their health status.

Honoring service means protecting every veteran's dignity and freedom.

Ohio's HIV laws punish people more harshly than those convicted of reckless homicide.
That is not justice. That is not science. And it is not protecting anyone.

Today is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

Stigma is one of the biggest barriers to HIV prevention and care in AAPI communities. Fear of judgment. Fear of disclosure. Fear of what the law might do.
In Ohio, those fears are not unfounded. People can still face felony charges based on HIV status, even when there is no risk and no harm.
Everyone deserves care and laws that protect, not punish.

Researchers are working toward an HIV vaccine.
Treatment has already made it possible for people to live long, healthy lives and prevent transmission.

But Ohio’s laws are still rooted in fear from decades ago. People can be charged even when there is no intent and no risk.

We’re moving forward in science. Policy needs to catch up.

Anti-Retroviral Therapy, also known as ART, is a combination of medicines that treat HIV. When consistently used as prescribed, they can lead to an undetectable viral load, thus eliminating HIV transmission. Indiana's criminal laws can't do that! πŸ’‘ Did You Know?

In Ohio, having a felony on your record can restrict access to essential resources like public housing, making it even harder for people to rebuild their lives after incarceration.

For people living with HIV, outdated criminalization laws can lead to lifelong consequences that go far beyond the courtroom, impacting housing, employment, and stability.
