The best physical therapists never stop being students. 🤓
This past weekend I had the opportunity to serve as a lab assistant for the Postural Restoration Institute ’s Myokinematic Restoration course.
While I wasn’t teaching the course, I had the privilege of working alongside Craig Depperschmidt as a lab assistant throughout the weekend —answering questions, helping participants refine movement strategies, and watching concepts click as they were put into practice.
One of the things I love most about the Postural Restoration approach is that it looks beyond where the pain is. By understanding how our body’s natural asymmetries influence the way we stand, breathe, walk, and move, we can often uncover contributing factors that traditional approaches may overlook.
Weekends like this are a reminder that learning never stops. Every course I take, every conversation I have with colleagues, and every opportunity to teach or assist helps me become a better clinician—and ultimately helps me provide even better care for the people who trust me with their recovery.
To my fellow physical therapists: if you’ve ever been curious about PRI but haven’t taken the leap, I’d encourage you to check out a course. Whether you incorporate every concept or just a few, it’s a perspective that challenges how you think about movement and can make you a more well-rounded clinician.
Always learning. Always growing. So I can continue helping you get back to being you.
