One year ago today Wayne got "THE CALL" at 7am. We had no idea what was ahead but God did and he was with us every step of the way! We do believe Wayne is a walking miracle of God! There is honestly no other way he would be here today and we've been told so by several Dr's. We give God ALL the glory 🙌 Today we worshipped at church with much gratitude for Wayne's new heart and Praising God for all the miracles in the last 12 months and we believe it's only the beginning. 🔥♥️If you were a part of our prayer Warriors we thank you from the bottom of our heart!!!!

03/06/2021

Today is Wayne's six month anniversary for his new heart🎉 Technically he got the call on the 5th but it was after midnight before the new heart was implanted ♥️He is currently seeing the transplant team every two weeks but after this weeks visit he will go once a month. This week they will check for rejection through blood work. He is about four weeks in for cardiac rehab and he is doing great💪🏃‍♂️ Hopefully he will be back in his shop working in April as he already has several jobs waiting for him. For the most part we are staying close to home but have ventured out a few times to eat. We drove to Canton and enjoyed a few hours at First Monday Trades Day last month He still needs to be super careful about being in public/crowds for another six months because of his compromised immune system. Even if covid didn't exist we would be wearing mask and sanitizing like crazy because he is at risk of catching anything 😷
He is now completely off of prednisone and diabetic treatment. His kidneys are doing amazing!!! His Dr's are so pleased with his recovery...he really is a walking miracle. Thanks again for all of your prayers 🙏

Update
Wayne got his dialysis catheter out on Monday. He is finally completley free from any tubes/hoses. The oxygen tank is being picked up today. He took down the metal dressing change table that has been at our bedside for almost 8 years. He was able to take shower last night and not have to worry about getting anything wet for the first time in almost 8 years. The Dr's told him doing tedious task with his hands would help the tremors so he picked out a cross stitching and had started that and Milly is going to come teach him how to crochet 🤣 whatever helps he is willing to do. He said I'll be glad when I can blacksmith again so you can post pictures of me doing something besides cooking and cross stitching 🙈
He is off of blood sugar meds and only has to check his blood sugar level occasionally instead of 3 times a day 🎉
Every two weeks the transplant clinic draws several viles of blood and they are checking for many levels and all numbers from last weeks appointment were as near perfect as could get!!! They also checked for signs of rejection this time as well and there was NO SIGNS OF REJECTION!!!!!
He is just feeling great and we are so grateful and thankful to God for making a way for this incredible recovery.

Today is the 4 month anniversary of Wayne's heart transplant! We are so grateful for this new lease on life. God has brought him through some very hard days. Yesterday he was discharged from Encompass Home Health adn last Friday he finished physical therapy. Next Monday he is scheduled to have the dialysis catheter taken out. He is still seeing the transplant team every two weeks to monitor heart and medication levels. The immunosuppressant drugs have some side effects and one of them is tremors. These tremors really take a hold some days and wear him down but honestly that is his only complaint. He is just doing wonderful!!!! I was able to catch a picture of him while he was out enjoying some sunshine and reading. He is looking forward to starting cardiac rehab soon which is three months past schedule because of everything that happened post transplant lol I say better late than never 😉

Wayne and I were beyond blessed from special friends on Christmas Eve. Thank you so much to the Ford's for your gracious beef raffle to help with Wayne's medical needs. Also a special thank you to Josh and Haleigh Hill and Juan and Ashley Ortiz for helping to sell tickets.
We love you all and we are so grateful to everyone who purchased tickets.

UPDATE Day 109
It's been a while since we've updated so I wanted to fill you in. Wayne had an appointed with the transplant team today and they were very pleased with the way he is progressing♥️ Rejection labs were taken today and it will be next week before we hear results but of course we anticipate only good news! All other labs
have been trickling in throughout today and so far everything is perfect. He started physical therapy and is really gaining strength. He is up to walking a half mile🚶‍♂️ (resting every 800 ft or so) Before covid he was walking a mile so this let's you know how the covid wiped him out. He is down to about a two inch bandage on his his chest incision and the nurse thinks it will come off on Friday. He is now taking good hot showers 🛁 We are so thankful for his recovery and renewed health. He is back in the kitchen and helping bake holiday yummies😋 we've enjoyed a few visits with the grand loves! Our kitties are really glad we are home too lol The stockings are hung and we are ready for Christmas 🎅

Wayne is getting stronger each day and has even started doing the dishes!! He is just a little over the three month anniversary of his new heart and so far the heart is doing fantastic. Wayne started physical therapy this week and he did really good 💪🚶‍♂️He has been without dialysis for over 30 days and his kidney numbers are now PERFECT 🎉🎉🎉 Lord to say thank you seems so small...God you are so worthy of our praise \0/
We have some really exciting news...the last wound vacuum has come off and wayne is ACCESSORY FREE for the first time in almost eight years 🙌♥️🎉 no more LVAD, no more batteries, no more cords, tubes, wound vacuums, PICC lines or oxygen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God is so good and we are so grateful and thankful for His healing power over Wayne!!!
He still has a dialysis catheter in his chest but that should be coming out soon.
We are enjoying being home...there really is no place like home 🏡

First win, helping dear friends, second win, 80+ pounds of beef at .25 cents per pound if you only purchase 1 ticket at $20 or beef at $1.25 per pound if you buy 6 tickets. (This beef is State inspected, predominantly grass fed with grain augmentation for marbling); third win, that’s a lot of beef, if you don’t have room enough for it all in your freezer you have the opportunity to bless others with sustenance in these though times. There are only 2 weeks left until the fundraiser ends we need your help so our dear friends and family in Christ can be blessed by us all.

Update
Day 89
Wayne has been home a week now and getting stronger every day. He's not requiring oxygen much at all. He's walking around the house now getting a little exercise and he should start some in patient physical therapy next week. We are just hanging at home eating (steroids make you hungry) 🤣 and watching a lot of movies lol He cannot go to any Dr appointments in person until he has two negative covid test...so far he's still positive at day 24...televisits it is. He is 3 weeks without dialysis and his kidneys are healed!!!!!! Labs tomorrow will give us some new numbers but his last creatinine level was 1.43 (1.2 is the goal) God is so good and the Christmas season is just a little sweeter for us this year!
