When we first opened as a gift store customers would come in and see us and turn right back around and leave. Our skin tone wasn’t right. So when we decided to switch to black hair products and our customers would tell us these stories, we felt at home. Today these things may not be as overt but they exist systematically. We hope we can be a haven from that.
