Could you find your facility’s AED and get back to the field in under 180 seconds? ⏱️

It’s easy to assume someone else has it handled, or that the device is right where it belongs. But the reality is stark: thousands of SCA incidents happen annually in the U.S., yet bystander AED use remains critically low.

Parents, coaches, players; next time you step onto the field, make sure you know where that AED is located.

Too many people hesitate to step in during a cardiac emergency because they think they aren't "qualified" enough.

The truth?

You don't need a medical degree or a certification to save a teammate, a student, or a child. You just need the willingness to act.

This week is National CPR and AED Awareness Week, but cardiac arrest doesn't wait for a special event.

It happens on ordinary Tuesdays, on the sidelines, or in the gym. Immediate hands-only CPR can double or triple survival rates. It takes less than two minutes to learn the rhythm.

Thirty years ago today, two people said yes to a future they could not possibly predict.

If that day never happened, there is no Simon. There is no Simon’s Heart.

We can plan our journey, but the road and destination are never certain.

Happy Anniversary to our founders. ❤️

Greg Moyer’s Law is meaningful progress for Pennsylvania schools and student safety. We were proud to play a small role in the advocacy effort.

And this moment forces us to hold two truths: gratitude for what’s been accomplished and disappointment about what got left out.

Cardiac emergency response plans matter. AED tracking matters. Annual drills matter. Identifying key personnel who must maintain CPR and AED certification matters. Reduced pricing and expanded access to AEDs matter.

These are real improvements.

But the law does not require comprehensive CPR education for most school personnel. It does not establish clear AED placement standards. It does not define how many AEDs schools need or how quickly one must be reachable during an emergency.

The law states that AEDs must be “situated in such a manner that is readily accessible for students participating in interscholastic athletics and practices.” That leaves a great deal open for interpretation.

Sudden cardiac arrest survival is measured in minutes. We do not have time for interpretation.

This law is a significant step forward. The legislative and advocacy process requires compromise.

We celebrate this advancement. But because Pennsylvania still falls short of recognized best practices, we remain committed to the work that still needs to be done.

Same venue. Same mission. Very different vibe.

In 2025, the courts at Philadelphia Youth Basketball were transformed for Simon's Soiree. The building was filled with hundreds of people celebrating our mission.

Last week, it was filled with Philadelphia high school students getting free sports physicals and heart screenings. It's part of the Athlete Health Organization initiative we've been a part of for over a decade.

One night we funded the mission.
One night we delivered on it.

Grateful to all of the volunteers, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, GE Healthcare and ERT (Clario).

Protecting hearts and saving lives looks different depending on the day. ❤️

For two years, a group of student heart health organizations, led by the NFL, have had their sights on Harrisburg. The goal was to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in schools and athletics.

We did it. Last week, the Governor signed SB 375 which improve the awareness and readiness around CPR and AED devices. It even includes cardiac emergency response plans.

A special shout out to Rachel Moyer and Senator Rosemary Brown who have been tirelessly advocating for AEDs in schools for almost two decades. We still have some more work to do but this is a huge first step.
