Well said. :)
We say, “I’m going to practice yoga.”
Then we step onto the mat.
And at some point we decide the practice is finished.
But what exactly finished?
You’re still breathing.
Your body is still negotiating gravity.
Tension is still moving through you.
Your attention is still going somewhere.
Your patterns are still expressing themselves.
Life keeps presenting moments of resistance, attachment, distraction, discomfort, reaction and release.
The mat gives us a beautiful container to see all of this more clearly.
Then we roll it up.
And the experiment continues.
You begin noticing how you breathe during conflict.
How much tension you use while driving.
Whether you can actually rest when nothing needs to be done.
How quickly an old samskara takes over when someone touches the right nerve.
How present you are with your children when your mind wants to be somewhere else.
And everything life teaches you eventually comes back onto the mat.
They keep influencing each other.
Practice becoming life.
Life becoming practice.
Until perhaps we start seeing through another illusion of separation.
Yoga has been happening the whole time
