Homemade pizza on Sunday is kind of our thing 🍕

All good pizzas must start with a good crust! Stole recipe and never looked back.
3 cups 00 flour + 1 1/4 cup warm water + 1/2 tsp yeast. Activate the yeast in the warm water then combine with flour. Knead 3-4 minutes until dough ball forms then let rise for at least an hour. Top with your favorite toppings and you have yourself a masterpiece!

Vegetarian breakfast burrito with egg, pico, potatoes, cheese, and homemade flour tortilla served with a side of vegan rice, beans, salad, and guacamole.

Greek Yogurt Blackberry Muffins

Thanks for these homegrown blackberry gems!

Ingredients: 1 cup Greek yogurt (I used mixed berry) + 1/4 cup milk + 1/3 cup maple syrup or honey + 1 egg + 1 cup oats + 3/4 cup flour + 1tsp baking powder + 1/2tsp baking soda + 2 cups blackberries
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine dry ingredients and wet ingredients in separate bowls. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix in blackberries. Bake for 15 minutes. Makes 18 small muffins.

(and I’m sure many other stores) has these salad kits on sale daily. We love to mix them with ground beef and rice!

➖Educational Moment ➖
I’m in the process of selecting a topic for my non-thesis research paper that I need to complete in order to graduate with my Master’s in Nutrition Science 🤓.I thought it would be interesting to do a paper on greens and reds powders 🥦🍎since they are a popular supplement right now and most companies that sell them claim they have a multitude of health benefits backed by research. I was not able to find the minimum of 10 articles ❌ that I need in order to write this paper so I reached out to a few companies and this was the response from one of them. Nowhere on their website was there access to the research they were claiming they have done and their own customer service representative “doesn’t have access to the research team”. What is the take-away message from this?
As an athlete:
1. By all means take the sponsorship. You need to make 💵! However, make sure the company you decide to work with is third party tested IF you plan to actually consume these products.
2. Eat real fruits and vegetables. These powders lack fiber and fiber is a key component to “gut health” that many of these supplements claim to promote. You need to consume real food in order to perform your best.
3. Work with a Registered Dietitian [not nutritionist] to help navigate these products and learn what is safe for you to consume.
As a general consumer:
1. Eat real foods. While these supplements may not be harmful, they certainly are a waste of money and lack fiber, one of the most important nutrients you are getting from fruits and vegetables.
2. Be cautious when consuming supplements. Supplement companies are in the game to make money. They are not in the game to make you healthy.
3. Work with a Registered Dietitian to help navigate the world of supplements.
