Flu Vaccine for Back-to-School

🟣 Why it matters:
Flu can spread quickly in schools and colleges, causing students to miss important learning time.
An annual flu vaccine helps protect against illness and serious complications.

🟡 Plan ahead:
The flu vaccine is recommended every year for everyone 6 months and older.
Flu vaccination is best scheduled in early fall, before flu season begins.

🔵 Keep them learning:
Flu shots help reduce sick days and keep kids healthy, in school, and ready to learn.

Make sure your child is protected against measles.
Measles is one of the most contagious diseases—if one person has it, most people nearby who aren’t protected can get sick.

Cases are increasing across the United States, with outbreaks reported in multiple states and thousands of cases already this year.

The good news? Measles is preventable.
âś… When should your child get the measles vaccine (MMR)?

1st dose: 12–15 months
2nd dose: 4–6 years (before school entry)

These two doses provide strong, long-lasting protection against measles and help prevent the spread in schools and communities.]
In school settings, where children spend a lot of time together, measles can spread quickly through the air.

âś… Check their records
✅ Make sure they’ve received both doses
✅ Talk to your pediatrician if you’re unsure

Protect your child—and help protect others, too. Find a vaccination location near you at VaccineConnect.org

Vaccines your high schooler needs

🟣 Routine vaccine:
Meningococcal (MenACWY) booster
Given at 16 to strengthen protection when teens are at higher risk of meningitis.
Your teen could be sharing more than just slushies—meningococcal bacteria can spread through close contact and sharing drinks.

🟡 Stay on schedule:
This booster helps maintain strong protection through the high school years.
Catch up on missed vaccines like HPV or Tdap—there’s still time.

🔵 Don't forget:
Flu (Influenza)
