Baby dolls are so much more than a toy. đź’›

They give children endless opportunities to practice everyday experiences: feeding, dressing, comforting, rocking, and putting a baby to sleep.

And while they’re busy playing, they’re also building language, pretend play, sequencing, perspective-taking, and social-emotional skills.

That’s the beauty of play. They’re learning through something that feels fun, familiar, and meaningful.

Reading together gives children the words to describe how they feel, recognize emotions in others, and begin to understand that all feelings are okay. Stories also open the door to meaningful conversations that build emotional awareness and connection.

This is one of the many gifts Dolly leaves behind. Through Dolly’s Imagination Library, she put millions of books into the hands of children, giving them not just stories, but imagination, possibility, and a love of learning.

At ICT, we know how much a book can open a child’s world. So this one feels especially close to our hearts.
