A senior presses the call button in the middle of the night.

They're not in pain.
They're not having an emergency.

They're scared.

Maybe they can't sleep.
Maybe they miss their spouse.
Maybe they feel alone.

And within moments, someone walks through the door.

Not with a prescription.
Not with a procedure.

With a smile.
With patience.
With reassurance.

A hand to hold.
A conversation.
A reminder that they matter.

These moments rarely make headlines.

Yet they happen thousands of times every day because of Certified Nursing Assistants.

During CNA Week, we celebrate the people who bring humanity to healthcare.

It's a simple act, but one donation can impact multiple lives.

As physicians, we're reminded every day how valuable blood donations are for surgeries, emergencies, cancer treatments, and countless medical situations where every second matters.
