It’s a hill I’m dying on. Yes, AI has its potential. However, my experience with human’s and recognizing the patterns of governments owned by corporations *cough*cough tech companies especially has me holding the line…..

Kroger whom purchased GE will be laying off 3000 employees over these 3 years as AI will be replacing them. Who cares about corporate employees right? Have fun figuring out your messed up paycheck with no humans to talk to. It’s bad enough now with automated menus trying to get ahold of a representative, just imagine that with NO HUMANS period.

When will AI be taking over medical jobs that really should have a human at the helm? How does one hold AI accountable if there is medical malpractice on its part?

What about finance? Or Wall Street? Everyone’s pension or retirement (including SS) is tied up in the stock market.
Open AI already learned how to escape its controlled environment and began to hack into its own systems. (Article link in the comments)
How long will it be before AI decides that humans are truly awful and should be en-slaved or eradicated?

So, you go ahead and keep on making those awful posters and asking ChatGPT. I’ll stay over here in the analog world as best as I can being pro human

How involved are you with your town? What are you doing to improve it?

Woke up in a mood and yall are going to hear about it. 😂

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being frustrated by what’s happening in your small town. In fact, I wholeheartedly believe more people should be paying attention, asking difficult questions and holding leaders at EVERY LEVEL accountable. But at some point, the conversation has to move beyond the comment section.

If you’re frustrated by empty storefronts, start asking why those buildings are sitting vacant and who has the power to change that. If you want more small businesses, start spending money with the ones already taking the risk. If you think your local government is making poor decisions, attend a meeting, ask questions and make your voice heard where those decisions are actually being made. Don’t assume they can read your mind. All of the people behind who can change these things are human, too. Get your butt in the room.

And if someone in your community is genuinely trying to make things better, consider offering a hand before offering another critical opinion. I speak on behalf of all business owners trying our hardest in this economy: we are good on critiques from afar for a bit.

None of this means you have to volunteer for every committee, spend money you don’t have (or don’t want to spend) or excuse the people in positions of power who aren’t doing their jobs. Residents have every right to expect competent leadership and meaningful progress.

But I’ve watched small towns develop entire online communities dedicated to discussing everything that’s wrong, while the handful of people actually trying to improve things struggle to find enough volunteers, customers or public support to keep going. That’s a pretty incredible disconnect.

Your frustration and criticism might be completely justified. But being right about what’s wrong doesn’t automatically make you part of what’s making it better - especially if it’s written in a comment section.

If we want stronger small towns, we’re going to need a whole lot more people willing to participate in building them.
