Replacing sugary drinks with plain water reduces caloric intake, aids weight management and curbs the blood sugar spikes associated with sweetened beverages. Thus, reaching for water instead of soda is an act of self‑care.

Hydration is about more than thirst. Water regulates body temperature, lubricates and cushions joints, protects the spinal cord and tissues, and assists the kidneys and digestive system in removing waste through urination, perspiration and bowel movements.
