Venus is in Libra September 2nd to Jan 2, except for Nov 5-22 when it will retrograde back to Virgo.

Venus nourishes through beauty, love, harmony, nature’s bounty, romance, diplomacy, the arts.

Beauty can stop is in our tracks, bring us to awe-inspired presence. In this way, she invites us to Sundaram, the highest radiant awareness - and perhaps the purpose of it all.

Venus broke us free of the first half of the year’s Kala Sarpa energy. But she did it by going to her place of debilitation (oh the sacrifices!). She is now in a place of strength.

Will this bring you more harmony?
Will this bring the world more peace?
Will this bring a greater appreciation of Beauty?
Will this bring more Love?
Will this help us heal our relationships?
Will this help us be the artists of our own life?
What do you think Venus in dignity brings to you?

OM Shri Lakshmiyai Namaha!
May Venus restore harmony to all.
May we remember the Beauty of this world.
May there be peace.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, August 27, 21:18 Pacific | August 28, 05:18 UTC, in Shatabishak Nakshatra, Aquarius.

“We are far from the shallows now.”

Shatabisha means the hundred healers. Its symbol is an empty circle, a thousand-petaled flower, a veil pulled over something vast. It is ruled by varuna, keeper of cosmic law and the deep waters.

But it is governed by rahu, the north lunar node, seen as a dragon with no body, only a head, and therefore always hungry… shatabisha hungers to cross thresholds and see what’s out in the vast unkown.

After the solar eclipse in Ashlesha, Cancer, we are seeing floods - of waters, of emotions. As Ashlesha is ruled by the Nagas, the serpent, representing a need to discern what is poison, and seek to transform into medicine, and now the moon completes its rise into fullness in shatabishak, the star of 100 healers, symbolized by the empty circle, the snake biting its tail there is definitely them if coming full circle,

As so many light workers have passed this eclipse cycle, who will carry the torch? Where will their light grow now? Are we learning by their example? What obscures or occludes our own ability to be that much light for a world in need?

A few enquiries:
Is your spiritual knowledge practical?
How does it serve?
Are we using sacred knowledge in sacred ways?
Are we allowing it to heal us, or are we simply accumulating?
Does wisdom serve, or is it extracted to wield power, or feed the ego?
What are you concealing, and is it protecting you, or keeping you small?
What are we doing to transform the darkness to light?

Rahu is the “cause” of this lunar eclipse, and the ruler of Shatabisha, strong in Aquarius, so don’t be surprised if you feel at some point like you are losing your mind, or if you feel disembodied, or that you are coming untethered.

Stay grounded, feel the earth under your feet. Stay embodied, feel with all five senses. With awareness on your breath, in your body you may ask, What is asking to be released before it turns poisonous? What is ready to be healed?

“The Sun dimmed today.” That Dolly Parton passed in the middle of this eclipse cycle makes Julia Roberts comment all the more poignant.

Saturn planetary period
Saturn is Maraka (indicator of death)
She was in Shani Ashtami both by Ascendant and Moon.
Rahu in her 7th house of marriage and death
Ketu on her Ascendant and Moon

The eclipse took home one who truly showed us that your light can never be eclipsed. She was a star, in every way. RIP dear Dolly. Thanks for spending some time here with us 🙏🏽

My friend Beth flies to Marrakesh tomorrow and reminded me of this beautiful recipe for Moroccan beans from dear Naziki.

How about a super healthy way to feed your super friends this Super Bowl Sunday? I fell in love with these beans the minute I first laid eyes on them many years ago. The beauty of the beans sparkling with … Continue reading →

San Diego summers are beginning to feel like childhood summers, with high heat and humidity for two months now, temperatures in the 90’s yesterday, and now a late summer shower. Interesting, the child who was screaming bloody murder for the first hour of the morning stopped as soon as the rain came. We used to call it a break in the weather - rain coming along to give us all some ease. Ahhh!
(Bhumi was curious but confused)

There are a lot of unknowns. But you may be surprised by the magnificence that rises within you.

We are right in the middle of this eclipse cycle. One week since the solar eclipse. One week before the lunar eclipse, August 27 in Satabishak, Aquarius with Rahu.

Rahu gives lots of unknowns. It is unpredictable, uncertain, sometimes chaotic. It is strong in Aquarius, and very Vata, so likely to overwhelm the Moon. There may be waves of feelings, a lot may get stirred up.

And, you may be surprised by how well you remain centered, calm, compassionate, and true to you.

The true light within is never eclipsed. That is Rahu’s ultimate teaching.

Thank you Morgan Harper Nichols for this quote.

When an eclipse happens, something shifts. The light changes. The atmosphere feels different. Traditionally, these moments were never treated as ordinary.

In this V i t a l V e d a | Sole & Dylan podcast episode, Dylan Smith is joined by Jyotishi and Ayurvedic practitioner Laura Plumb, Vaidya Dr Krishna Raju, Vaidya and medical astrologer Dr Harsha Raju, and mantra teacher Purnesh. Together they explore eclipses through the lenses of Ayurveda, Jyotish and mantra śāstra.

We spoke about Rahu and Ketu, the lunar nodes “causing” eclipses, as well as the difference between solar and lunar eclipses, why digestion and prāṇa are considered more sensitive during these periods, and why eclipses have long been used as powerful windows for sacred practices and inner growth.

Specific mantras and simple ritual guidelines are shared, along with practical recommendations around food, rest, meditation and how to orient the mind during these heightened times. The conversation moves between astronomy, subtle physiology and lived experience, offering a steady and grounded way to approach eclipse events.

Rather than sensationalising eclipses, this episode invites a composed perspective. A reminder that moments of shadow can also be moments of alignment.

🌙 The effects of eclipses can begin a week or more prior, and can occur up to three months after. It may not all happen on August 12th. But this eclipse is joined by Mercury and Jupiter, and is in Gandanta, so it’s pretty stressed.

Happy Monday! The weather is hot, the current affairs are hot, the sky is hot with this month’s eclipses. Let’s remember ice cream and all life’s sweetness are not just for Sundaes. They can be savoured on Mondays too, and all through the week. You staying cool, helps all stay cool.

🍃

Ayurveda tips for keeping cool when it is hot, hot, hot outside

🍑Sweet is one of the coolest of the Six Tastes (Shad Radas): Fruit, root vegetables, grains, and juicy vegetables like cucumbers, squash.

🍃Mint is the most cooling herb. Cilantro, fennel, rose, hibiscus are also cooling. Infuse in your water, and sip at room temperature.

💧Add a small pinch of pink salt, and/or a drop of maple syrup to your water to boost hydration. Sip throughout the day to stay evenly hydrated. Room temperature encourages absorption, and supports digestion which can get stressed by high heat.

🌺 Support digestion with a rose lassi, recipe on my blog Laura Plumb or food-alovestory.com

🧘‍♂️Lie down legs up, to encourage flow back to the core. Hear expands and moves energy to the periphery. Resting on your back, deep full breaths with legs elevated is soothing and restorative.

🦋 Linar breathing long and slow is cooling, though subtle. While lying on your back, or sitting comfortably, tuck your index and middle finger into the thumb pad of your right hand. With your thumb, gently close the right nostril and inhale through the left nostril. Exhale left, and repeat. Continue breathing through the left nostril only until you feel calm, cool and collected.

Remember you are cool - it’s who you are, every day of the week!
