The MMR vaccine is the best protection against measles. Vaccination doesn't just protect youโ€”it helps protect our entire community, including babies who are too young to receive their routine MMR vaccine and others who may not be able to be vaccinated.

The routine first MMR vaccine is given at 12โ€“15 months of age. During the current measles activity, parents of infants 6โ€“11 months should talk with their healthcare provider about whether an early MMR dose is recommended.

When more people are protected, measles has fewer opportunities to spreadโ€”helping protect those who are most vulnerable.

Iowa is seeing a significant increase in cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora. The parasite is spread when food or water becomes contaminated with f***s from an infected person. It is not typically spread directly from person to person.

Iowa had reported more than **270 confirmed and probable cases**.

A multi-state outbreak, including Iowa, has been linked to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms. However, this outbreak accounts for only a portion of reported cases, and other cases remain under investigation.

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฐ๐š๐ญ๐œ๐ก ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ:
โ€ข Frequent, watery diarrhea
โ€ข Stomach cramps, bloating or gas
โ€ข Nausea or loss of appetite
โ€ข Fatigue, body aches or headache
โ€ข Fever or vomiting

Symptoms typically begin about one week after exposure and, without treatment, can last several weeks or improve and then return.

Continue to rinse fresh produce thoroughly under running water. However, ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐š๐ฒ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž ๐‚๐ฒ๐œ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐š. Do not use soap, bleach or commercial produce washes on fruits and vegetables.

Today our Home Health team had the pleasure of welcoming Wayne County Board of Health member Cindy Salsbery, ARNP, for an informative wound care in-service.

Our nurses and home health aides had the opportunity to learn about current wound care practices, ask questions, and discuss real-life scenarios they encounter while caring for patients. Ongoing education like this helps ensure we continue providing the highest quality care to those we serve.
