Let's close out our May Pose of the Month, Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana), with a few helpful tips! ๐ŸŒ™

As you enter the pose, keep your standing foot pointing toward the top of the mat and flex through the lifted foot.

To help yourself "lift off," place the fingertips of your lower hand on the floor (or a block), bend into the standing leg, and use that support to float the back leg up.

Open the hip of the lifted leg and broaden across the chest as the top arm reaches toward the sky.

If it feels available, begin to straighten the standing leg while drawing that hip in and up for stability. Gaze toward the top hand, or wherever helps you feel steady and balanced.

And remember: wobbling is part of the practice! ๐Ÿ˜„

Need a little extra support? Use a block, or practice with your back against a wall.

Have fun exploring it! โœจ

As May comes to a close, I'm reminded that balance isn't something we find once and hold onto forever.

It's something we practice.

In the wobbles, the transitions, the moments of strength, and the moments we need to begin again.

Thank you for exploring Balance in Change with me this month. May we carry forward the reminder that steadiness isn't about staying stillโ€”it's about returning to ourselves, again and again. ๐ŸŒ™โœจ

In a world that is constantly moving, calm is something we create from within.

This week, try holding your poses a little longer. Notice your breath. Allow moments of pause between the noise and the next task. Stillness is not something we wait to find someday. It is something we practice, even in motion.

As we honor and remember this Memorial Day, may we also create space for reflection, gratitude, and presence. โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ

There is wisdom in the wobble. ๐ŸŒ™

Balance is not about standing perfectly still. It is about learning how to adjust, return, and keep flowing when things shift.

Build the heat. Embrace the mess. Keep showing up. โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ

Mindfulness Monday โœจ

This week, notice your rhythm and flow. Not the perfect kindโ€ฆthe real kind. The kind with stumbles, restarts, extra effort, and maybe even a little wobbling along the way. ๐ŸŒ™

As we build a little more heat in our practice this week, remember that strength does not have to feel punishing. Repetition can be empowering. Movement can energize us without needing to exhaust us.

And when the balance gets shaky? Let it. Tap the foot down. Fall out for a moment. Laugh a little. Try again. (Yes, pictured is me right after falling out of a pose! What can you do but laugh it off and try again.)

Stability is not perfection.
It is the willingness to return. โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ

Sunday Funday! โ˜€๏ธ Here are a few prep poses for Half Moon Poseโ€ฆ and if you come to my classes, chances are youโ€™ve done these MANY times already ๐Ÿ˜‰

โœจ Triangle Pose
Take a wide stance with arms stretched out. Your ankles and fingertips should roughly line up. Turn one foot out 90 degrees and the back foot in slightly. Shift the hips back, reach forward through the front arm, then lower that hand down while the other arm lifts to the sky. Open the chest and gaze up if it feels good.

โœจ Extended Side Angle
From a wide stance, turn one foot out 90 degrees and bend into that knee so it stacks over the ankle. Rest the forearm on the thigh or bring the hand to the floor. Reach the top arm overhead and keep the chest open and spacious.

โœจ Ankle to Knee Balance
Stand tall and balance on one leg. Cross the opposite ankle over the standing leg thigh and start to sit back a little. Flex the crossed foot and press the knee away from you. Hands can stay at the heart or rest on the legs.

These poses help open the hips, legs, chest, and shoulders while building balance and stability for Half Moon Pose ๐ŸŒ™

Give them a try and let me know how it goes! ๐Ÿ˜Š
