This.

I often say to people that "We need to advocate for reliable autism resources across the lifespan."

The reason I mention 'lifespan' is that most publically funded services end when autistic students age out of school. It's important I believe to prioritize this as the popular image of autism often revolves around children (even though early intervention is the key). When we talk about the autism community we can't forget autistic adults.

16 years old today.
I am blessed beyond measure to be your mom.
Keep shining your light, son.
Keep being proud of who you are.
Continue to teach the world that being different is okay.
You are amazingly amazing.
Cooler than cool.
Perfectly imperfect.
You own my heart.
Happy Birthday MC 💙

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and tonight the Sakonnet River Bridge is lit red for dyslexia awareness, thanks to 9-year-old Cam.

Cam was diagnosed last summer with Dyslexia. It’s often seen as a stigma or disability, but so many incredible inventors, leaders and entrepreneurs have/had dyslexia. Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein…

Cam had the idea to write to the RITBA to ask if they would light the bridge red after seeing the State House lit up earlier this month and seeing the Sky Tower in Auckland lit different colors to raise awareness for important causes. He hopes seeing the bridge lit up tonight will show kids that their difference is something to be celebrated and not something to be embarrassed about.

More research and advocacy is needed to help these kids succeed.

Here is a picture of Erik at work. He truly enjoys his job.

For people with disabilities, evacuating at a moment's notice or stockpiling supplies can be complicated. However, experts say there are things everyone can do to prepare, no matter their needs.
