October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and tonight the Sakonnet River Bridge is lit red for dyslexia awareness, thanks to 9-year-old Cam.
Cam was diagnosed last summer with Dyslexia. It’s often seen as a stigma or disability, but so many incredible inventors, leaders and entrepreneurs have/had dyslexia. Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein…
Cam had the idea to write to the RITBA to ask if they would light the bridge red after seeing the State House lit up earlier this month and seeing the Sky Tower in Auckland lit different colors to raise awareness for important causes. He hopes seeing the bridge lit up tonight will show kids that their difference is something to be celebrated and not something to be embarrassed about.
More research and advocacy is needed to help these kids succeed.
