The TCAT Northwest Dental Assisting students have been learning about microbiology! During this lesson, students participated in a hands-on activity by swabbing different surfaces around campus to observe how bacteria can grow in a Petri dish.

This activity allowed students to connect classroom learning with real-world examples while gaining a better understanding of microorganisms, infection control, and the importance of proper disinfection in the dental setting. The students were also excited to show off their new class T-shirts! 🦠🧫🦷👕

Over the past few weeks, the TCAT Northwest Dental Assisting students have been diving deep into psychology and communication, anatomy and physiology, and operative dentistry. 🦷📚

Today, the students had the opportunity to put those skills into practice by escorting patients to treatment rooms, communicating with patients, reviewing health histories, and positioning patients correctly for the treatment indicated. 🪥✨

We are extremely thankful for the Practical Nursing students who volunteered to serve as patients. 💙 We are also grateful they took the time to teach our dental assisting students how to take blood pressure. 🩺

This was a wonderful opportunity for collaboration, hands-on learning, and teamwork between programs! 👏🤝
